The hard drive in Microsoft Windows , can be divided into several partitions. There are two types of partitions- Primary and Extended. You can install operating system on any of these partitions. In some situations, you might encounter several problems if you install Windows operating system on an extended partition in dual-boot environment, your system may not boot up and give you some errors. You encounter data inaccessibility and data loss problems. In order to overcome such issue, Windows Data Recovery is required.
As an example, when you boot your Windows system that is configured as dual-boot and in which the operating system is installed on extended partition, you come across following error message:
“OS Loader 4.0 Boot record Signature AA55 Not Found, xxyy Found. Windows NT could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the Windows NT Documentation about hardware disk Configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.”
The above error message renders your Windows computer unbootable and critical data inaccessible. In these circumstances, you are required to find out the cause of this problem and then go for Windows Data Recovery to retrieve all of the lost data.
Cause
This problem generally occurs due to corruption the the EBR. The EBR (Extended Boot Record) or EPBR (Extended Partition Boot Record) is the descriptor for logical partitions under general DOS partitioning system. The real structure of extended partition is mentioned by many EBRs that are located in extended partition. The first EBR would always be stored on first sector of extended hard drive partition.
Explanation
The EBR has same structure as of MBR. It is responsible for managing the files on particular hard drive partition and ensure easy and smooth accessing of files. In case of corruption to this data structure, files from the hard drive can not be accessed and data loss situations occur that require Windows Recovery to retrieve data.
The Windows Data Recovery can easily be performed using third party applications, known as Windows Data Recovery Software. The tools use high-end scanning mechanisms for in-depth scanning of Windows hard drive and absolute recovery. They are completely safe and easy to use with rich graphical user interface and read-only conduct.

The technologies are getting higher and higher as time pass by and it seems nowadays if you are not online, you don’t be present. But in every good things happened there’s always a bad thing twin of it, for example in the computer if there are no bad guys who creates viruses, spyware, spams and other malicious programs we can surely use our computer safe but sad to say it didn’t happen. What security protection measures have you taken to make sure the valuable data saved on your computer’s hard drive are safe? There are quite a lot of safeties measures which you should do at all time to apply to your computer in order to make your saved data secure and protected. Always bear in mind that being connected with the Internet is a bit like faltering down a gloomy passageway wearing a shimmering gold. We cannot eliminate the bad guys everywhere but we can prevent it from harming us.
By using Linux you are lot safer compare from other operating system, Linux is an operating system that is by far more secure than Windows, security issues still arise every time and in order for you to be completely peaceful and safe, you have to save your Linux computer from harm with a firewall. Although most businesses and companies focus on the Windows platform and thus, firewalls are mostly targeted for the Windows operating system, don’t worry; there are a lot of firewalls available for Linux and most of them become visible to do a great job. Linux uses iptables filter to give stronger defence and protection. That software included in basic Linux packages so we can accurately resolve the security issues by means of checking the incoming traffic with this program also we can define the criteria for each port, services so we can define our own strict rules for our incoming traffic.
A firewall is an enormous beginning even if you’re using any operating system you can still use firewalls to protect your computer (even not Linux). Firewalls can be both hardware and software based. There are a lot of different firewall vendors some of the bigger names are Cisco, Symantec, and Checkpoint. The complicated part is configuring the firewall. This is where many intruders bypass security, because the firewall is poorly configured. Firewalls are essential for computers if we connect to internet. There are different kinds of methods on how the firewalls work and check the incoming information. At the same time the firewalls let the outgoing ports open. It gives security for our computer and protects it from the system mistakes as well. For personal computers it can be sufficient and helpful but for networks maybe not.
To ensure complete data security, it is required to make regular data backup. You should always backup your most important data, without which your business can not proceed

A computer is a complex device with hardware and software components. Although modern computers are generally pretty reliable, almost everyone will face some sort of computer problem or issue eventually.
How to Handle a Computer Problem
The following discussion applies mostly to Windows based computers
The first step in solving a computer repair issue is to find the cause of the problem. This is known as troubleshooting.
Windows computers provide an event viewer. This is a record of all errors that the system detects. You should review any error reports in your event viewer to see if they identify the problem and suggest a fix. To use the event viewer, click start->run, type eventvwr.msc and enter. Click on system and look for any error reports in the right column. If there is a link in the error report, click on it to get the details. The link will often provide you with a possible solution.
Do the same for application and the other choices on the left hand side until you find something that applies to your problem.
Your operating system also provides help from the start menu. It provides step by step guidance on a great number of problems.
A web search for the symptoms of your problems will come up with a number of sites that provide step by step guidance in determining the exact cause of your problem.
Fixing the Problem
Once you have determined what the solution is, you can decide if you want to tackle it yourself.
If you are handy, many common problems are not difficult to repair such as replacing or adding memory, replacing a DVD drive or replacing a video card.
Software problems can be fixed by downloading patches or running some repair programs.
The Most Serious Problems
The Windows operating system is the heart of your system. Just as in a human being, heart problems affect the entire body in the most serious and total way, similarly operating system problems can make your computer severely sick or totally unusable. If you have a serious virus infection, constant or crippling BSODs (blue screen of death), frequent crashes or extremely slow performance, operating system repair is probably required.
In the case of XP systems, Microsoft has provided for a repair install operation which can bring your computer back to new. The best source for information about how to do the repair is provide by Michael Stenvens Tech.
However, this process can be complicated and you may need to be somewhat technical to pull it off. If you don’t do it right, you might get your system back but you will lose all your programs and data.
There are paid programs that can automatically fix your computer without losing any of your programs or data. These can be a life saver and they are cheaper than going to a repair outlet.
Best of luck in solving your repair issue.

The windows regedit registry editor is a utility provided by Microsoft that enables you to change information in the windows registry file.
The Windows registry file is a database that contains all the configuration settings in the Windows operating system. It holds the profile for every user who is registered on your PC, information about all internal and external hardware attached to your computer, information about all of the applications installed, and the details on every configuration setting made throughout windows.
Because the Windows registry is an essential part of the operating system, you need to be extremely careful anytime you make a change to it. You should only do any altering if you are proficient and/or have explicit instructions how to alter a component within it.
Below are a few of the things you should know about the windows registry. This will help you avoid the consequences of making a mistake when editing the windows registry.
How the registry is laid out.
The Windows registry is contains five main sections. Theys are called “keys”, each containing specific kinds of information about windows. Each section has a nested folder structure containing files which has settings called values. Here are the five main keys in the Windows registry:
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT – Contains information about file types.
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER – Contains copies of data stored in HKEY_USERS about the user who is currently logged on.
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE – Represents information about all the hardware and software that is installed on the computer.
• HKEY_USERS – Contains the account information of users installed on your PC.
• HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG – Contains copies of all the information from all the other root keys that pertain to the currently session.
Backing up the registry
It is essential that before attempting to change anything in the registry you should make a backup copy of it. You can then restore it to it’s previous state if you make a mistake. There are several ways of backing up the registry.
• Use Windows XP’s Backup Utility and select System State.
• Create a Restore Point.
• Launch the Registry Editor, select the key you plan to edit, pull down the File menu, and choose the Export command.
The Regedit Registry Editor
To view and modify the registry, you can use the Regedit Registry Editor. To startup regedit click on “Start” – “Run” and then type “regedit” in the run text box, then click OK
Searching the registry
If you know the name of the subkey or value you want to edit in the registry, but you don’t know exactly where it’s located, you can use the “find” tool. To access it from within the regedit registry Editor, just press [Ctrl]F. When you see the find box, type the name of the subkey or value you want to search for in the box. You can also check the boxes in the “Look At panel” (Keys, Values, or Data) for better targeting of your search.
Using registry favorites
If you regularly edit the registry, you can use the favorites menu to save yourself time looking for any deeply nested subkeys. The Registry Editor’s Favorites menu allows you to bookmark any location you find. When you make a registry change that you may want to return to later, just pull down the Favorites menu and select the “Add To” Favorites command
Cleaning the registry
After a period of time, the registry can become full of orphaned or corrupt keys and values, This can make the registry inefficient and slow yet still function. There are many registry cleaners out there that perform admirably. One I recommend and use is “Errorfix”. This cleaner not only cleans up the registry but provides a lot of other functions as well such as removing unwanted files from your recycle bin. Go to my home blog to find out more.
Monitoring your registry activity
When you installing new applications, the installation process can make a many changes to the registry. If you would like to keep track of how the registry is changed there is a freeware utility you can use called RegMon. It runs in the background and tracks registry I/O operations. It will then provide a report on the status of those operations, which can come in handy if you need to track problems.
Just remember the regedit registry editor is not to be fooled about with as you can create havoc if not used correctly.

Skype is one of the most popular communication programs used by people on the Internet. People with Skype accounts can call one another and talk with each other verbally with computer microphones. Phone calls from standard landlines can even be received and handled through a Skype account. Rates for calls through Skype are cheaper than that of standard calls and calls between Skype users are free, and this makes Skype especially popular. However, on August 16 and 17 in 2007 there was a time in which Skype shut down because of a crash in the system. Here is a look at what caused Skype to shut down.
One of the factors that caused Skype to shut down was that there was a security update that took place on the Microsoft Windows operating system. Microsoft Windows users will receive routine security updates from time to time. These updates are all used with the intention of helping to protect the user’s computer from the newest hazards that are online.
One of the requirements that are needed for a security update on the Windows operating system is that the computer will have to be restarted so that the new updates will be installed and able to function. According to reports from Skype, there was a high amount of traffic and it seemed that everyone was rebooting their computers at the same time and then trying to get onto the Skype program. This plays a very important factor into learning about what caused Skype to shut down.
Another issue that caused Skype to shut down was from an error in the software code in the Skype program. This error prompted Skype to shut down in the event that excessive activity takes place. It is not clear as to how the error came about, but after this was found, work began to close the error so that a shut down like this would not take place again.
The Skype Company described the error that caused Skype to shut down as a “deficiency in an algorithm within Skype networking software.” The algorithm was described as an interaction that helps to connect the Skype network with the client that the individual Skype user has to connect. This was considered to be the first time in which this took place within the system. Some have argued that the company was not prepared to take care of this particular type of error.
Many other factors evolve around what caused Skype to shut down. One of the biggest problems is that more people are using Skype more so than in recent years. This has prompted more people to use up the bandwidth that Skype has available. It is in theory that because of the incredible demand for services from Skype that the system may have shut down as a result.
How popular has Skype become recently? In the early part of 2006, there were a little less than a hundred million Skype accounts throughout the world. As of July 2007, there are a little over 220 million users throughout the world. With an average of nine million individual users on at once at any time of the day around the world, the bandwidth amount and activity that can take place with all of the Skype accounts can cause the Skype program to be over taxed.
That is a general look into what caused Skype to shut down. While the original problem has been fixed and Skype is now available for all people to use again, the Skype Company will be looking to take care of the problem so that this will not happen again. However, with the continuously growing popularity of Skype and the increased activity that is used in Skype, there is always the chance that something new may happen, unless Skype can upgrade their system to handle so much traffic.

Reliable email correspondence and simplicity is what makes Outlook Express such a popular email client amongst people. It is trustworthy email client that comes bundled with Windows operating system. It is used by home users or business users, who want reliability and easy accessibility of emails without spending a single penny.
Every email client suffers from some type of errors. As an example – Outlook Express shows invalid page fault errors, SMTP errors, POP errors, IMAP protocol errors to name a few. When the Invalid Page Fault occurs in Outlook Express, you might encounter any of the below given error messages:
MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in module Directdb.dll
MSIMN caused an exception C0000006h in module Directdb.dll
MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in module Msoe.dll
Outlook Express stores each folder as .DBX files. Separate .DBX files are created for every folder such as Inbox, Outbox Sent Items, and Deleted Items and for every other user created folder.
You can minimize the loss of emails with smaller DBX files. As you know, the size of the Inbox folders increases very frequently. Either you delete the heavy size emails or move them to the other folder, so that the size of the Inbox will not increase. You can apply the same procedure for other folders of Outlook Express. But if you didn’t use this procedure and your DBX file got corrupted due to increased file size, corruptions due to antivirus functioning, sudden system shutdown, accidental deletion or permanent deletion of emails, power failure or other comparable reasons, then your emails will not be accessible.
You can use two procedures to deal with the trouble of DBX file corruption.
Reconfigure the exchange profile; all the emails will be downloaded from the server to your exchange profile. Doing this, you will get the previously stored messages as well as resume the sending/receiving operation. But the failure of this process can lead to increase in the level of corruption. However, it is recommended to use Outlook Express Repair tool to make your emails accessible again.
Repair Outlook Express DBX files, but Outlook Express does not include any inbuilt utility to repair corrupted DBX file. At this point, Outlook Express Recovery tool – third party utility comes into picture for fixing the errors.
Outlook Express Recovery tool to repair Outlook Express DBX files comes with competent and efficient repair engine that effectively repairs the corrupt DBX files and saves recovered data to different saving formats.
The available Outlook Express Recovery tools thoroughly scans the corrupted DBX file and shows the preview of the recovered emails, so that one can verify the emails before saving to the desired format. But you might be thinking how to get such software that is equipped with these exclusive features. Now, it’s very easy to get such software. Just spend some amount of time on searching the software over internet. After searching, download demo version of Outlook Express Recovery software’s and repair Outlook Express DBX files to make the lost and corrupted emails accessible again.

In Microsoft Windows, you can use Directory Replication Service to replicate the files and data stored on Windows hard drive. This replication is generally done to make backup of your mission critical data and to safeguard against data loss situations. But in some situations, when you attempt to export data from the Windows hard drive using Directory Replicator service, Windows can not read files from hard drive and give you some errors while replicating the directory. In such cases, your critical files on hard drive become inaccessible and you come across data loss situations. In order to retrieve your valuable files in these cases, you are required to opt for hard drive recovery solutions using advanced tools.
In a practical scenario, if you set up your Windows NT based operating system to export files using Directory Replicator service on the NTFS (New Technology File System) file system partition, you come across any of the underwritten error message:
Event 3208 “The replication service could not update directory tmptree.rp$ from source on %3 due to error 183″
Or
Event 3216 “The system error 5 occurred”
However, you might not receive above error message and this behavior of Windows operating system if you try to replicate the FAT partition.
Root of the issue
You might encounter this problem if the permissions or NTFS file system has got damaged. Most of the computer file system have several methods for administering the access rights or permissions to specified users and group of users. File system permissions are used to ensure proper accessing of stored files and preventing unauthorized access.
Resolution
In order to sort out this behavior, go through underwritten steps:
Stop replication process and copy export files from NTFS to FAT file system partition.
Deleted export files from NTFS partition.
Replace export files with the files that are copied on FAT partition.
This method works in a number of such situations, but it removes NTFS-specific attributes from NTFS partition. In case it fails to resolve the issue of hard drive, Hard Drive Recovery solutions come for your rescue. Recovery in such cases, is best possible with the help of powerful and advanced third party Hard Drive Recovery Software.
These applications carry out in-depth scanning of affected hard drive to retrieve all sorts of lost files from it. The Hard Drive Recovery Software have self-descriptive and interactive user interface and thus allow you to have quick and easy recovery.
