Windows Vista supports atomic transactions to NTFS file system using a component called Transactional NTFS (also called TxF). Using Transactional NTFS makes it easier for application developers and administrators writing file output routines, which are assured either to completely fail or completely succeed. Thus, this group of users can efficiently preserve data integrity and handle errors. The log file thus generated while using TxF is called $TxfLog file. If $TxfLog file suffers inconsistencies, it is supposed to be fixed by Clfs.sys driver (Common Log File System driver). However, if it fails to correct, your system becomes unbootable displaying some errors on blue screen. Such situations might force you to reformat the hard disk and restore lost data from the previous backup. In case of any backup concerns, you can use Data Recovery Software as the sure solutions to recover lost data.

While trying to boot your Windows Vista-based computer system, you might encounter the below error message displaying on a blue screen:

“0×0000C1F5”

Cause

The above error occurs if both of the following conditions are true:

• $TxfLog file is corrupted
• Clfs.sys driver (Common Log File System driver) fails to fix $TxfLog file corruption

* Common Log File System or CLFS is the logging system used by Windows for creating high-performance transaction logs. It is accessed by both user-mode and kernel-mode applications. Its driver file is termed as Clfs.sys.

Solution

You need to use listed methods to solve this problem:

• If you have installed more than one hard disk into the system, you should simply remove the disk on which the $TxfLog file is damaged and doesn’t contain Windows Vista.
• In case you are using only one disk in your system, you can restart the system using an earlier operating system (like Windows XP or Windows 2000) installation disc and use it reformat the hard disk to reinstall Windows Vista. You should restore your lost data from your previous backup.

Sometimes, backup fails to give required results because of reasons like interruption while taking backup, not regularly updating it and more. In such cases, Data Recovery applications come as rescue. These Data Recovery Software use powerful scanning algorithms to analyze the media for lost data and restore it at a safe location.

Exchange Server follows transaction logging system. Information Store folder is comprised of related transaction logs along with storage groups. It means that Information Store is the most critical part of Exchange Server. Number of storage groups may vary according to the requirements of organizations and Exchange Server version being used. If the Information Store suffers inconsistencies or corruption, EDB Recovery will recover lost data in the absence of online backup.

Priv.edb and Pub.edb are two critical files of Exchange Server Storage Group. These files contain user mailboxes. If these files get corrupt, Exchange Server may return 4294966095 error and Information Store service may fail to start. The corresponding event entry in Event Viewer is -1201.

Apart from EDB corruption, -1201 Event ID may also generate if log files and EDB files are on different drives and due to some issues, log files are not available. To resolve the issue, user can follow these steps:

• If online data backup is available, user can restore Information Store from it
• If Information Store backup is unavailable or incomplete, user needs to use Eseutil repair utility to perform Hard Recovery. The process requires two basic considerations: backing up Mdbdata folder to avoid further data loss and ensuring that hard disk contains sufficient free space for Hard Recovery. Mdbdata folder contains all log files and storage groups of Exchange Server. However Exchange Server Repair requires following commands to be applied:

Ø eseutil /p /ispriv /tx:\tempdfg.edb
Ø eseutil /d /ispriv /tx:\tempdfg.edb
Ø isinteg -fix -priv -test alltests
Ø eseutil /p /ispub /tx:\tempdfg.edb
Ø eseutil /d /ispub /tx:\tempdfg.edb
Ø isinteg -fix -pub -test alltests
• If problem persists, third party Exchange Server Recovery applications can be used on Mdbdata folder to repair damaged EDB files. These are the tools that can scan and repair damaged EDB files and extract user mailboxes without affecting data integrity.

Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Recovery is the most powerful edb recovery software. It extracts user mailboxes from damaged EDB files and restores them as individual PST files which can be used with Outlook. It supports Exchange Server 2003, 2000 and 5.5. It is compatible with Windows XP, 2003 and 2000.

where x: is the drive containing the required free disk space.

NOTE: When the Information Store service has started, after the repair process, make a full online backup immediately.

Exchange Server maintains databases for data and log files for holding transactions. Each database contains .edb and .stm as two of its files, while the most important is .edb that contains mailboxes. If Exchange Server database gets corrupted, EDB Repair becomes need of the hour. However, if it results due to some unexpected event and database and log files are intact, through Soft Recovery user can replay the transaction logs on the database and get consistent database.

The application uses different log files like E00.log, E0000000.log, Res1.log and Res2.log. Specifically if the incomplete write operation is of E00.log, it is termed as torn write. This write is caused by operating system crash, unexpected failure, database end process or using any termination utility. If the file is healthy and issue is only torn writes, we can replay it on database and get the database repaired. But if it is damaged or issue is other than torn writes, replaying it will result as an entry in the application log like given below:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: ESE98
Event Category: Logging/Recovery
Event ID: 465
Date: 12/9/1999
Time: 2:48:48 PM
User: N/A
Computer: Computer_Name
Description: Information Store (2428) Corruption was detected during soft recovery in log file E:\exchsrvr\THIRD\E00123ab.log. The failing checksum record is located at position 8189:328. Data not matching the log-file fill pattern first appeared in sector 8195.

In such cases, database rejects the log file data and so replaying damaged log file doesn’t cause any further harm to database. To test the damage of E00.log file, eseutil /ml command can be used. However in these cases where torn writes can’t repair the damaged database (either due to factors other than torn writes or damaged E00.log), we can try any of these EDB Recovery solutions:

• In case of damaged log file, its backup copy can be restored from a recent server backup or online backup.
• We can remove all log files which are newer to the damaged log file and restore Exchange database from backup. In this case, the log file data will be lost.
• If the problem persists, a user can use /p option of Eseutil utility to perform Hard Recovery after restoring the database from online backup. The process deletes all corrupted pages from database.
• If all solutions fail, probably because of backup unavailability, we can use third party EDB Repair tools to scan and repair damaged EDB files and extract user mailboxes. The software can also be used to recover data to replace Hard Recovery process. Such recovery tools end the risk of data loss due to their read-only nature.

Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Recovery is advanced EDB Recovery software. It supports Exchange Server 2003, 2000 and 5.5. The software extracts individual mailboxes as PST files, which can be used with MS Outlook. This EDB Repair Software is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, 2003 and 2000.

Access database components can be accessed only when the database gets fully mounted. There is a possibility that the Access database does not get mounted completely and successfully due to Access database corruption. In such circumstances, if there is no database backup the user needs to use third party application – Access Recovery Software. For example, a user tries to mount the Access database in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. The database does not mount completely and the user receives the below error message:

“An internal processing error has occurred. Try restarting the Exchange System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange

Information Store service, or both. ID no: c1041724”

The above error message occurs because of these reasons:

• Exchange cannot access or create the files in the folder that the TMP system environment variable specifies.
• Exchange does not have full control permissions from the root of the drive down to the transaction logs and

databases.
• Incorrect registry setting regarding the TMP or TEMP environment variable.
• Access database corruption.

In case of first three issues, the user needs to verify that both the TMP environment variable and the TEMP environment variable point to a valid location in Windows. In case of database corruption, the user needs to use a third party utility known as Access Recovery Software. Access Recovery applications are high end utilities, which incorporate effective scanning methods to achieve complete access database repair.
Stellar Information Systems Limited provides the finest access repair software. Stellar Phoenix Access Recovery software completely recovers and Repair Access database components such as, views, tables, forms, queries, macros, etc. This access repair application supports Access 2007, 2003, XP and 2000. It recovers the relations between the tables. This recovery software is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2003, 2000 and NT. The demo version of this software is available on Stellar’s website that allows the user to preview the lost Access database components.

With the SQL Server 2000, users found many administrative tools which offered the better relational databases development and maintenance. The tools like Query analyzer, Data Transformation Services, SQL Profiler, Service Manager and others eases the users’ tasks in an effective way. SQL Server 2000 was the first file version to launch in a variant for the IA-64 architecture. Hence this gave better data storage temptations to the users and still in-use amongst many enterprises, though other file versions are making their individual place.

But, due to one or the other reason the SQL Server 2000 databases are found to be suspect after opening. Additionally, you get an error messages which prompts you to take SQL repair mechanism and reads out as:

spid9 Recovery of database ‘UserDatabaseName’ (5) is 2% complete (approximately 185 more seconds) (Phase 3 of 3).

spid9 Using ‘dbghelp.dll’ version ‘4.0.5′ *Dump thread – spid = 9, PSS = 0×80178098, EC = 0×801783c0

spid9 The exception information has been submitted to Watson error reporting.

spid9 Stack Signature for the dump is 0×986D5509

spid9 SQL Server Assertion: File: , line=3430 Failed Assertion = ‘m_freeCnt + emptySlots * sizeof (Slot) >= spaceNeed’.

spid9 Location: page.cpp:3430 Expression: m_freeCnt + emptySlots * sizeof (Slot) >= spaceNeed

The mentioned error message is the fault of SQL Server itself. During the time when the row insertion is intended, if the application does mistakes while asserting free data page space, crisis can be seen with the database. Actually, the row to be inserted should have more space as compared to the available.

Though Microsoft offers a supported hotfix through its latest service pack, but there is no SQL recovery way through it. This is available for the avoiding later such problems. Actually, the culprit transaction logs have caused the corruption causing changes in the database, much earlier. So your corrupted database has no recovery way, other than backup or third party applications.

MDF recovery is best possible via the complete backup. On the other hand, in its absence or existence in bad condition, MDF repair software will do a great job. Through their effective scanning algorithms, SQL recovery software will bring you success in restoring the corrupted database intact. SQL repair software have the set of worth features to offer the help.

Stellar Phoenix SQL Database Recovery uses the most powerful scanning algorithms and makes MDF recovery possible within moments. This is a fast, safe and easy-to-use MDF repair application, which proves good to be used with SQL Server 2000 and 2005.

This SQL recovery tool has an interactive interface and read-only design. The software valuable for all the database objects.
