Author: Hi, my name is Pete Wotton and only a few years ago I was exactly in the position you are right now. I loved playing video games and didnt want a regular, boring job. So when someone suggested I look at becoming a video game tester I thought it was just perfect.
Video game tester jobs do not suit everyone and this article talks about what you may experience as a game tester and to give you the plus points and the negatives advantages as well as the disadvantages.
When I was just playing video games at home, I had no idea there were jobs available that paid you to test pre release games.
If the thought of becoming a tester yourself is one you really like the sound of, then you need to hear this.
Before you decide to devote your life to testing video games (or at least a few years of it), let me give you the good news as well as the bad news.
The disadvantages are as follows…
* This industry is very competitive and testing jobs are highly sought after by lots of eager rookies looking for that perfect job.
* As you first start off as a game tester you will discover the wages to be quite low. It does get better when you complete more projects and gain greater experience.
* The working hours can be long and unsociable.
* There is no guarantee that once you finish one job, you will go straight on to another.
* You dont get to see much sunshine when you are at work!
Now for the good news…
* A top game company pays you to play and find faults with their very latest video games. If that is not incentive enough, I dont know what is?
* If you are going to get a job, you may as well get one that you are going to love doing.
* You get to work and socialize with like minded people. Not always easy to find in regular jobs.
* You will get to find out about other job vacancies within the game company that do not always become available outside of the industry. A lot of companies employ from within.
* If you do not yet fancy joining the millions of other guys and girls working boring 9 to 5 jobs, Monday to Friday then the lifestyle of a video game tester might be the answer.
This is just a sample of some of the good things and bad things to video game tester jobs.
The job will certainly not suit everyones lifestyle. But if you are thinking it is something you can see yourself working at, then you should find out more about life as a video game tester and think about applying for jobs.
