The Blackberry Storm is the newest touch-screen smart phone to hit the market. It was released on November 21st of 2008 and has been called the “iPhone Killer” among other names, as it has many of the same functions and operates on the, super-fast, 3G network.
Verizon Wireless is the main carrier for the Blackberry Storm and its list of features, which include:
• Large high resolution screen coupled with a rich multi-media suite
• Text (SMS), picture messaging (MMS), the ability to watch 30-second video clips, instant messaging and access to popular social networking sites
• Removable and rechargeable 1400 mAhr battery that provides approximately 5.5 hours of talk time and 15 days of standby time.
• 3.2 megapixel camera, with variable zoom, auto focus, and a powerful flash that also provides continuous lighting when recording video; the camera records video in half-VGA resolution (480×320) or at 176×144 for MMS
• 1 GB of on board memory storage and 8 GB microSD memory card included in expandable memory card slot.
These are just a few of the impressive features you will expect to see when you get your hands on the Blackberry Storm. The phone is completely touch-screen, but what they did was left a few of the original buttons from previous Blackberry phones so that if you are doing something on a word document and someone calls you, you don’t have to erase it to answer the call. This is a very handy feature that you don’t find on the iPhone 3G.
I have been able to use both the Blackberry Storm and the iPhone 3G and I would definitely choose the Blackberry Storm over the iPhone 3G because of its ease of use, flexibility, different features and price. The Blackberry Storm, after your mail-in-rebate, will be $149, whereas the iPhone 3G can be as much as $299.
The Blackberry Storm, in my opinion, is the item to get this Holiday Season, and there are many places where you can get discounts and deals on the Blackberry Storm and even get one for FREE!
