Consumers should know that the joystick is such a device which is consists of a stick lying on the base and reporting the angle and the direction of the device which it is controlling. It is known that joystick is alsoused for controlling video games carrying several push-buttons readable by computers. There are many kinds of joystick in the market and the most famous joystick is analog stick which is mostly have the usage on modern video game consoles. In many aircraft’s joystick act as the main flight controller in the cockpit in case of military fast jet in which centre stick and side stick location are applied. Users of joystick should know that it is used basically in controlling the machines such as cranes, trucks, underwater unmanned vehicles along with zero turning radius lawn mowers. Also in mobile industry joystick plays an important role such as used as miniature finger-operated joysticks in many smaller electronic devices. One can see the that the joystick is applied in controlling the aircraft’s ailerons and elevators.

The word joystick was takenout by french pilot Robert Esnault-Pelterie in the late 20th century. The first name of joystick is george stick after which this name became famous in the market. Earlier days were also using joystick in many planes. The two electrical axis joystick was discovered in germany in the year 1944 . This device was used to follow the glide bomb for targetting the ships. But that time joystick was used by the operator for steering the missile to follow its target. The joystick was used to carry on-off switches besides carrying analogue sensors which is a digital joystick. The signal was forwarded through the joystick targetting the missile via radio. Few of the joysticks now available in two dimensional carrying two axes for the movement. One will also find three dimensional joystick as different and varied types of joystick with built-in technology are coming in the market.

The latest joystick available in the market has the quality of force feedback capability in comparison to the earlier one. This one can say are active devices rather than input devices only. These joystick can give signal back to the computer helping it in resisting the movement with a strong backing force and making the joystick vibrational. Currently the application of joystick in varied industry is a common thing such as cranes, assembly lines, forestry tools, mining trucks and excavators and lots more. The consumption of joystick is booming in the market as it had replaced the usage of traditional mechanical control lever in current hydraulic control systems.

One of the biggest factors that determine your success as a character, is you gear. Choosing the best gear for your character can be a real challenge. There are a couple ways to determine if your gear is good enough for your situation. The best way to figure this out is through testing. It is helpful to have more than one piece of the same gear for your set.

If you are focusing on DPS it is important to have a good add on that can record your performance, such as Recount. When you are testing a certain piece of gear you can simply attack an enemy around your level or even practice on a target dummy. It is important to test each piece for the same amount of time for more accurate results. Try testing one piece for a minute, than another for a minute. If you find that you achieve more DPS with one piece of gear than it important you take note of this.

When I am playing World of Warcraft I like to test out my gear a lot, because sometimes it can be hard to find a good balance between stats. When talking about Security, the most eminet issue subject is to locate the threat and to neutralize the enemy, no matter if it is an asset, a man or someone private propriety.

The security camera is the best guard a regular man can purchase for a reasonable price, and it is the basic protection line versus a common foe.

In our era there is profusion of security cameras on the market. As an outcome the customer doesnt have to purchase an inferior camera quality, therefore he can obtain the best proposal that the market has to offer.

In our era there are many sort of cameras: cameras that protect settlement by using video scan technology that can notice thieves and others borders penetrations, ranches, mansions and etc.

Hidden cameras also can be found today in the common market, most of their use is for small business enabling the administrator to supervision over the business and its production, income and output even when the manger is sick and absent or superving from home.

Today, we gain access to new products and better technology, thus enable the customer to hire new sort of cameras:

-Security cameras that can attach to any wall and has camouflage ability, cameras that are mobile and immobile, also has the ability to zoom in and out from the desirable target.

The most popular types of cameras on the market today:

Dome camera- that kind of security camera will fit any house or business.

IR camera- this camera has an improve night vision scan technology.

IP camera-a new camera that gives the client the ability to watch from his home upon his business, by that making him the sole manger.

When checking and buying security cameras it is important not to be rash and to buy the first camera that you see.

Most people who intend to buy a security camera have no inital knowledge about them; therefore they will probably buy an inferior camera.

This is why very important to ask a professional about the quality of the camera, about the difference of the price and the lifespan of the product.

Don’t expect instant reports of success, though. Instead, if all goes to plan, we’re likely to hear about a series of incremental improvements.

Developed by the US Department of Defense’s Missile Defense Agency (MDA), the ABL aims to focus a beam of laser energy in the megawatt range for several seconds onto a missile at a “militarily significant distance” – more than 100 kilometres.

So far, the laser has only operated at near full power on the ground. On 18 August it was fired successfully from the air, but at reduced power. That, however, was no mean feat: aircraft vibrations play havoc with the precisely aligned optical components needed to generate a laser beam.

Firing at full power poses other challenges too. At powers high enough to destroy missiles, any surface contamination or tiny flaw in the laser optics can absorb so much heat that they crack or shatter.

High-power laser beams also heat the air they pass through, creating perturbations that can disperse or divert the beam. To counteract those effects, the ABL uses an adaptive system that senses atmospheric changes along its path and makes optical adjustments to compensate.

To test that system, the MDA plans a series of increasingly powerful shots at modified ballistic missiles loaded with sensors to measure the distribution of laser power on the target. Engineers will assess each shot’s performance and use the results to fine-tune the adaptive optics. Once this is done, the MDA will test the laser again in varying conditions, and attempt to destroy actual missiles. The first of these tests is planned to take place late this year, with two more to follow in early 2010, according to an MDA spokeswoman.

A sister project, the Advanced Tactical Laser, which aims to use an airborne high-powered laser to hit targets on the ground, recently completed its first successful test. With future funding dependent upon the success of these tests, the pressure is on the ABL team to prove its efficacy.

The pigment in the hair follicle is the target of the laser used in hair removal, and for this reason laser hair removal is less effective on white, gray or extremely blonde hair. However, there are modern laser hair removal treatments that can be used for nearly all situations.

The lasers used in hair removal treatment work their magic best on new, baby hairs. This is why, when you arrange your laser hair removal sessions, you will need to make a number of appointments. After the first treatment you will see hair growing back – these are the next set of hairs that need to be treated.

This is why the schedule of laser hair removal treatments are so important – most people will need at least three sessions of treatment, and you should ensure that you follow your doctor or beauty therapist’s schedule closely to get the best results.

Laser hair removal treatment are probably the most effective way of preventing or at least managing unwanted hair growth, but it is important to realize that no hair removal process is one hundred percent effective. Laser hair removal is unlikely to remove all your hair in the treatment area permanently – most people have some hair reappearance within a year – but the good news is that hairs that do grow back are likely to be paler and more delicate, and will also respond more quickly and effectively to repeat laser hair removal.

Are there any dangers associated with Removal Of Hair By Laser?

Laser hair removal can be with safety used on all parts of the body, including legs, back, stomach and even the soft and fine skin of the bikini line and the face.

Lasers are highly powerful rays of light and they can hurt tissue – however, the lasers used in hair removal are specially designed to pass with safety through the skin, targeting the pigmented cells at the follicles of the hairs, underneath the surface, without damaging the surrounding tissue and the skin.

There are a few contra-indications, or circumstances in which a medical professional or a qualified beautician will recommend you to wait before commencing hair removal by laser. These include sores in the parts of the body you wish to have hair removal performed on, and if you have recently had certain acne treatments.

The marketing hype from publishers of anti-virus and anti-spyware software might lead you to believe that do-it-yourself virus removal is simply a matter of installing the right product. However, if you don’t know what you’re doing, your attempts to clean a virus from your computer may be a complete waste of time, or worse yet — cause more problems than you had before you started on your PC virus removal endeavors. Especially if you have contracted a newer virus, or one that only has homegrown tips on how to remove that virus or bug, you run into the real possibility of damaging your computer or losing some, or all of, your important files.

Missing the target – About 600 new viruses and other types of malware are discovered every month. It’s nearly impossible for off-the-shelf anti-virus software to stay in front of that tidal wave, and the shareware products that abound on the internet are usually months out of date. Thus, your software may give you a clean bill of health when in fact your computer is still infected, and spreading the infection undetected, in the background.

Catching it again – An increasing number of viruses are designed to survive detection and removal, by reinstalling themselves every time you start your computer. Most hard-drive based anti-virus programs are powerless against these kinds of viruses, because the viruses load before the anti-virus software gets a chance to. Your computer might be “clean” when you finish your virus removal, only to be re-infected the next time you boot up.

Losing the baby, keeping the bathwater – Some types of “malware” — such as adware — are actually components of freely distributed software programs, which won’t run without them. And an aggressive anti-virus program can often give “false positives”, identifying harmless program components as lethal viruses. If you automatically delete or quarantine them, programs you were counting on may stop working.

Winning the battle, losing the war – Some anti-virus spyware is so aggressive it can use a significant amount of your computer’s memory. Thus, causing your computer to slow to a crawl or interfere with the installation of legitimate software or even day-to-day usage of your PC. With performance degradation like that, who needs a virus?

The hard fact is that virus programmers are much, much more computer savvy than most users. To clean your computer safely, it’s best to turn to a trained professional with high-end tools and the knowledge to be able to tell what’s really a threat and what’s a necessary file.

Leveling a hunter is pretty easy. I would be hard pressed to find many bad points on this class as far as leveling it is concerned. The biggest downside is that this is one of the most overplayed classes in the game, so be prepared for a lot of competition for groups later on. The hunter class also has a bit of a learning curve to properly play it in PvP as well. All in all it is a very fun class, with fewer downsides than upsides.

The biggest problem with hunters is that it seems like you see them everywhere. You will be hard pressed to not be able to find a hunter if you really need one around.

This is simply because they are so easy to level. This class could easily be played by anyone with enough sense to press one simple key… once per fight. There were times when I would simply send my pet in and auto attack my way through a phone call, a movie, the baseball game, etc.. Some people would consider this a plus, but this easily can make this one of the more boring classes to level too.

PvP play for a hunter seems straight forward, but is hardly such. Most people assume that they can send their pet in, plug the target with arrows, and dominate the damage charts. For the most part you can do this, even without proper gear, but your one on one survival will suffer greatly.

One of the greatest assets to a hunter is the wide range of instant cast shots. When you combine this with proper use of the “jump shot” you can take out about any class in the game with ease. Even the few classes that can close ground easily can be handled with a simple disengage first. A jump shot requires you to play with a mouse and keyboard, and takes some practice to master. Once you do, however, you will have a skill that will improve the play of EVERY class you play. I use the “jump shot” now with my mage in PvP and it works wonders.

Leveling a hunter is pretty simple and painless, but there are a few things you can do to make it a ton quicker and easier. The best place to start is by clicking the next link and then grabbing a copy of Zygor Guides.

Computer viruses are deadly. They often spread without any apparent contact and can be a nuisance, or even worse, fatal to your computer. Individuals who create these viruses, estimated at 10-15 new ones a day, are the electronic versions of terrorists. Their goal is to inflict havoc and destruction on as many people as possible by disabling, stealing, damaging, or destroying computer and information resources. Often, they have no specific target in mind, so no one is safe. If you access the internet, share files or your computer with others, or load anything from diskettes, CDs, or DVDs onto your computer, you are vulnerable to viruses.

Fortunately, there are good guys working just as hard as the hackers to develop cures for viruses as quickly as they send them off into cyberspace. And there are many things you can do to keep your computer from catching viruses in the first place.

Defining Viruses:

A virus is a small computer program that can copy and spread itself from one computer to another, with or without the help of the user. However, viruses typically do more than just be fruitful and multiply, which is bad enough in itself because it hogs system resources. Anything else viruses are programmed to do, from displaying annoying messages to destroying files, is called their payload. Often, they cannot deliver their payload until an unsuspecting user does something to make the virus execute its programmed function. This could be as simple as clicking on an innocent looking file attachment with the .exe (executable) extension.

Catching a Virus:

Most viruses are spread through e-mail attachments because it’s the easiest way to do it. Although Macintosh, Unix, and Linux systems can catch viruses, hackers are particularly keen on exploiting the security weaknesses in anything Microsoft, particularly Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. Because of the popularity of this software, hackers get maximum bang for their buck, and they probably get some satisfaction from continually reminding Microsoft that being big doesn’t mean you’re perfect.

Solution 1: Anti-virus Software

Your first line of defense is to install anti-virus software. To be extra safe, also install firewall software, which is now included in some anti-virus packages. This software can scan all of your drives for viruses and neutralize them. Here are some features to consider when evaluating anti-virus software.

- Compatibility with your operating system – Make sure the software works with your system, particularly if you are using an older operating system like Windows 98.

- Firewall software – If it’s not included, find out if it’s available. If you must, buy it from another vendor.

- Automatic background protection – This means your software will constantly scan behind the scenes for infections and neutralize them as they appear. This provides some peace of mind.

- Automatic, frequent updates – Because new viruses appear every day, you’ll want regular updates. It’s even better if they occur automatically when you connect to the internet. If automatic updating isn’t included, you’ll have to check the vendor’s website and download updates yourself. This is vitally important, because you will not be protected from new viruses if your software is out of date.

- Disaster recovery – Software with a recovery utility to help you get your system back to normal after a virus attack is always good to have.

- ICSA certification – The International Computer Security Associatioin has standards for the detection rates of anti-virus software. Make sure your software has the ICSA certification.

- Technical support – It’s a good idea to select a package that offers free technical support, either online or through a toll-free number. If you’re ever felled by a virus, you may need it. Some anti-virus software vendors are Symantec Corporation (Norton AntiVirus), McAfee Corporation (McAfee VirusScan), Trend Micro Inc. (PC-cillin), and Zone Labs Inc. (Zone Alarm Suite).

Solution 2: The Virus Scan

If you receive a particularly juicy attachment that you’re dying to open, save it on your Windows desktop and run your anti-virus software on it first. To do this, click once gently on the file on your desktop … don’t actually open it … then right click and choose Scan with (Name of Anti-Virus Software) to activate a virus scan.

If it’s infected, your anti-virus software may neutralize it, or at least tell you the attachment is too dangerous to open. On the other hand, don’t feel guilty if the very thought of saving a potentially damaging file anywhere on your system is enough to quell your eagerness to open it and make you delete it immediately.

Solution 3: Delete first, ask questions later.

When in doubt about the origin of an e-mail, the best thing to do is delete it without previewing or opening it. However, some viruses, such as Klez, propagate by fishing in people’s address books and sending themselves from any contact they find to another random contact. You can spread a virus just by having people in your address book, even if you don’t actually e-mail them anything. They’ll receive it from someone else in your address book, which really makes life confusing. Because of the proliferation of porn on the internet, e-mail viruses often tempt victims by using sexual filenames, such as nudes.exe. Don’t fall for it.

Solution 4: Beware of virus hoaxes

E-mails warning you about viruses are almost always hoaxes. You may be tempted to believe them because you typically receive them from well-meaning friends, who received them from friends, etc. These e-mails themselves usually aren’t viruses, but some have actually fallen into the hands of hackers who loaded them with viruses and forwarded them merrily on their way as a sick joke.

The proliferation of e-mails about virus hoaxes can become nearly as bad as a real virus. Think about it, if you obey an e-mail that tells you to forward it to everyone in your address book, and they do it, and this goes on long enough, you could bring the internet to its knees. If you ever want to verify a virus warning your anti-virus vendor may have a list of hoaxes on it website. It’s in the business of providing the fixes, so it will know which viruses are real.

Solution 5: Beware of filename extensions

The extension of a filename is the three characters that come after the dot. Windows now defaults to hiding filename extensions, but it isn’t a good idea. Just being able to see a suspicious extension and deleting the file before opening it can save you from a virus infection.

To see filename extensions in all your directory listings, on the Windows XP desktop, click Start button | Control Panels | Folder Options | View Tab. Clear the check box for Hide extensions of known file types. Click Apply | OK. System files will still be hidden, but you’ll be able to see extensions for all the files you need to be concerned with. Viruses often live on files with these extensions – .vbs., .shs, .pif, .Ink – and they are almost never legitimately used for attachments.

Solution 6: Disable the .shs extension

One dangerous extension you can easily disable is .shs. Windows won’t recognize it and will alert you before attempting to open an .shs file. The extension is usually just used for “scrap object” files created in Word and Excell when you highlight text and drag it to the desktop for pasting into other documents. If this isn’t something you ever do, or you have Word and Excell 2000 or later, which allow you to have 12 items on the Clipboard, click the Start button | Control Panel | Folder Options | File Types tab. Under Registered file types, scroll down and highlight the SHS extension. Click Delete | Yes | Apply | OK.

Solution 7: Dealing with double extensions

When you turn on your extensions in Windows, you’ll be able to detect viruses that piggy-back themselves onto innocent looking files with a double extension, such as happybirthday.doc.exe. NEVER trust a file with a double extension – it goes against Nature.

Solution 8: Beware of unknown .exe files

A virus is a program that must be executed to do its dirty work, so it may have an .exe extension. Unfortunately, this is the same extension used by legitimate program files. So, don’t panic if you find files named Word.exe or Excel.exe on your system – they’re your Microsoft software. Just don’t EVER open any file with an .exe extension if you don’t know what the file’s purpose is.

Solution 9: Watch out for icons

Viruses in attachment files have been known to assume the shape of familiar looking icons of text or picture files, like the wolf in the hen house. If you recieve an unexpected attachment, don’t open it without first running it through your anti-virus software.

Solution 10: Don’t download from public newgroups

What better place for a hacker to lurk and stick his virus than in the middle of a crowd? Sooner or later, someone’s bound to download it and get the virus going. Don’t download files and programs from newsgroups or bulletin boards, or open attachments sent from strangers in chatrooms (“Let’s exchange pictures!”) without first scanning with your anti-virus software.

Solution 11: Avoid bootleg software

This may seem like a no brainer, but sometimes that tiny price tag on a popular but expensive package can be too good to resist. Resist it! Likewise, be careful about accepting application software from others. You don’t know where it’s been, and what may have started out as a perfectly clean package could have become infected during installation on someone else’s infected computer.

Solution 12: Protect macros in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

A common type of virus uses macros. Macros are sets of stored commands that users can save as shortcuts to perform long functions in just a few keystrokes. A macro virus may perform such mischief as changing file types from text files or spreadsheets into templates, locking up keyboards, and deleting files. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint come with macro virus protection. To make sure yours is activated, open each application, then click Tools menu | Macro | Security. On the Security Level tab, make sure Medium or High is selected. Click OK. If you are already infected with a macro virus, you may find that the steps of this procedure are unavailable becasue the virus has disabled them. In that event, run a virus scan on your system to see if your anti-virus software can kill the virus.

Solution 13: Use passwords

If you share your computer, it’s a good idea to assign everyone a password. Passwords should be a combination of letters and numbers no less than eight characters long, and preferably nonsensical. Never write passwords and stick them anywhere near the computer. To assign passwords in Windows XP, click the Start button | Control Panel | User Accounts. Follow the prompts to assign/change passwords.

Solution 14: Update application software

Microsoft constantly issues patches for the security holes in its operating system and applications software. however, don’t be lulled into complacency if you have Windows Update automatically checking things for you. Update checks for patches to repair bugs in the operating system, not for security problems.

To get the latest security hotfixes (as Microsoft calls them), visit www.microsoft.com and look for hotfixes for all your Microsoft software, particularly Outlook and Outlook Express.

Microsoft also has a free downloadable package called Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) that scans your system for missing hotfixes. It works with Windows 2000 and XP Home and Professional only. It doesn’t support Windows 95, 98, or ME.

To download the MBSA, go to the TechNet section of the Microsoft Website. Be warned that the information is written in techie language, so you may find it daunting.

Last Words:

Now that you know some ways for avoiding and dealing with viruses, let’s wrap things up with some solution you’ve probably heard before but have ignored.

- Back up your files regularly – If a virus crashes your sytem, you’ll feel much better if you’ve got backup copies of all your important files. Make the backup copies on a media that’s separate from the computer, such as on diskettes, CDs, or zip disks. Scan them for viruses before you put them away to make sure they aren’t infected. If they are, they’ll do you no good if you ever have to use them because they will just transmit the virus right back onto your computer.

- Make a boot disk – Create an emergency boot diskette before you have a problem so you can start your computer after a serious security problem To make a boot diskette with Windows XP, put a blank floppy disk in the drive. Open My Computer, then right click the floppy drive. Click Format. Under Format options, click Create an MS-DOS startup disk. Click Start. Keep the disk in a safe place. With luck, you’ll never need to use it.

- Turn off you computer – DSL and cable connections that are “always on” may be convenient, but you should always turn off your computer when its not in use. Hackers can’t get to a machine that’s powered off.

Home Security Advice

When the topic of home security springs to mind, most people seem to think of burglar alarms and little to nothing else. Alarms can be a great way to protect your home, although they are only a small part of what makes up an effective home security system. Burglar alarms are a key to protecting your home – although there are other things you’ll need as well.

Believe it or not, the windows are actually the key to home security. Homes that have poor constructed windows tend to get broken into a lot more than homes with secure and sturdy windows. When you are dealing with your windows, you should make sure that you have tough glass and locks that fit to the windows. When you are away from home, you should always make sure that your windows are locked. Even though some windows may be hard to reach, you should always lock them. Burglars make a living out of stealing – and they will normally find a way in if they see the opening.

Home security is moving beyond strong locks and a guard dog and requires more vigilant standards. With burglars coming out into the day time and carefully planning their not-so-random attacks, safeguarding your home with a complex home security system requires you to put as much thought into it as the burglars do.

Along with the windows, doors are also known to be a weakness of security around the home. Doors should always be strong and sturdy, complete with tough locks that aren’t easy to force open. If you have a spare key, you should be careful where you leave it. Losing your keys can also make you a target, especially if you have anything on your key ring that reveals your home address.

Home Security Shutters look great and add value to your home while adding greatly to the integrity of your home security defence system. They come in a range of colors and are usually custom made to fit the exact specifications of your windows. The key feature of home security shutters, which make them an attractive security option, is their ability to secure all glass window areas in your house.

To better protect their homes, most people choose to invest in a home surveillance system. These systems are great for monitoring the home, as they can record video and keep it stored for you to view later. If you travel a lot, a home surveillance system can be an ideal way to keep a check on your home while you’re away.

Home security systems and security cameras are not the only way to guarantee home security, but a good way to protect your home is with security cameras, if your budget can handle it.

Guard dogs are also common with home security as well. A guard dog can protect your home from burglars, thieves, and other types of trouble. Guard dogs can be very handy to have around, as most dogs are more than capable of scaring away trouble with their bark. The only downside to guard dogs is the fact that you’ll need to train them and ensure that they always have food and water.

Last, but certainly not least are burglar alarms. Burglar alarms can be effective to an extent, although they are primarily good for scaring thieves away. If you put an alarm in a visible location from the outside of the home, most burglars won’t even attempt to enter your home. Even though burglar alarms are great for scaring off thieves – you’ll still need to have other areas of your home safe and secure as well to get the most of your home security.

As computer-related crimes become more prevalent, understanding the types of computer-related crimes provides law enforcement an insight for investigative strategies.

The first insight is knowing the types of computer crimes.

Computer as the Target

This computer crime includes theft of intellectual property. The offender accesses the operating program under the guise of the system’s manager. The intruder accesses the contents of computer files in the system through the trap door that permits access to systems should there be a human or technological problem.

Here, the offender uses the computer to obtain information or to damage operating programs while committing the following computer crimes:

* Theft of marketing information, like customer lists, pricing data, or marketing plans
* Blackmail based on information gained from computerized files, like the medical information, personal history, or sexual preference
* Sabotage of intellectual property, marketing, pricing, or personnel data
* Sabotage of operating systems and programs with the intent to impede a business or create chaos in a business operations
* Unlawful access to criminal justice and other government records
* Changing a criminal history, modifying want and warrant information
* Creating a driver’s license, passport, or another document for false identification
* Changing tax records or gaining access to intelligence files
* Techno-vandalism through unauthorized access to damage files or programs
* Techno-trespass violating the owner’s privacy as in criminal trespass

Computer as the Instrumentality of the Crime

Here, the processes of the computer facilitate the crime.

The computer criminal introduces a new code (programming instructions) to manipulate the computer’s analytical processes and for converting legitimate computer processes for the following illegitimate purposes:

* Fraudulent use of automated teller machine (ATM) cards and accounts
* Theft of money from accrual, conversion, or transfer accounts, credit card fraud, fraud from computer transactions like the stock transfers, sales, or billings and telecommunications fraud
* Billing charges to other customers through cellular phones
* Once they capture the computerized billing codes, the computer criminals program these codes into other cellular phones simply by hooking up the phone to a personal computer
* Using software originally developed by programmers in other countries they reprogram the signal chip in the cellular phone
* Share the same through underground computer bulletin board services (BBS)

Computer is incidental to other crimes

In this category of computer crime, the computer is not essential for the crime to occur.

In every following case, the systems merely facilitate the offenses:

* Helping the computer crime to occur faster
* Processing of greater amounts of information
* Making the computer crime more difficult to identify and trace
* Unlawful banking transactions and money laundering
* Supporting unlawful activity via BBSs
* Erasing or denying proper access of organized computer crime records or books, and bookmaking involving drug raids, money laundering seizures, and other arrests in encrypt the data or design
* Allowing computer criminals to destroy the storage media, such as disks, to eliminate evidence of their illegal activities
* Letting child pornographers exchange information through BBSs

These computer crimes require unique data recovery techniques in order to gain access to the evidence.

Computer Crimes Associated With the Prevalence of Computers

The presence of computers, and microcomputers, generates sinister mutations of the traditional crimes like the software piracy/counterfeiting, copyright violation of computer programs, counterfeit equipment, black market computer equipment and programs, and theft of technological equipment.

* Violation of copyright restrictions of commercial software can result in the staggering loss to businesses
* Hackers break into computers with the help of the software illegally written and sold
* Successful computer programs, like the word processing, spreadsheets, and databases are duplicated, packaged, and sold illegally on a large scale
* Just like the pirated audio and video tapes, counterfeit computers and peripherals (items such as modems and hard disks) are also manufactured and sold under the guise of originals

Legal Issues Of Computer Crimes

Some States have enacted laws specifically directed toward computer crimes, while other States rely fundamentally on the common law as it applies to current and emerging technology. The elements of a computer-related offense must be established for successful prosecution.

* The physical act of a computer crime, actus reus, may be demonstrated best by an electronic impulse
* It is difficult to define and track
* A computer crime can occur in 3 milliseconds using a program code that tells the software to erase itself after the computer executes the action eliminating the evidentiary trail
* Causation relates to the self-destruction of computer programs that facilitate computer crimes and an investigator can not show causation if the offender erases the executing instructions
* The electronic data interchange (EDI) and its networks complicate the legal elements by making computer crimes more difficult for law enforcement to specify, document, and materially link the crime to an individual
* The EDI connects parties via computer for contract negotiations, sales, collections, and other business transactions
* The computer becomes the vault, with the EDI serving as the key to its contents
* The ability to access data in the computer must be relatively easy in order to maximize business efficiency
* Security controls must be introduced in order to protect the business’ “crown jewels”
* Maximum security and easy accessibility are not compatible: As the businesses prefer user-friendly equipment, system security usually takes second priority
* The phenomenal growth of computer BBSs, on-line services, and the Internet only serves to compound the problem

As a result, computer-related crimes become easier to perpetrate and more difficult to identify, investigate, and prove.

Special Problems with Computer Crime

Intellectual property consists of concepts, ideas, planning documents, designs, formulas, and other information-based materials intended for products or services that have some commercial value or represent original thoughts or theses. Crimes associated with intellectual property focus primarily on theft when the product has commercial value, as opposed to basic research or research for private use.

Intellectual Property:

* Involves formulas, processes, components, structure, characteristics, and applications of new technologies and covers such areas as fiber optics, computer chip designs and conductivity, and telecommunications equipment, protocols, and technologies
* Associated with the marketing and production of new technologies
* Pricing information, marketing targets, product release dates, and production timetables

Computer Crimes by Malfeasance

The concept of computer crimes by malfeasance means that computer-related behavior stretches the bounds of legality and may be viewed as only technically wrong.

Some of the scenarios of malfeasance computer crimes:

* A parent offers to copy a computer program for a school that cannot afford to buy the software
* An employee secretly maintains a small database in an office computer as part of a sideline business
* An individual uses someone else’s computer account number and password to view the contents of a database
* A customer gives her unlisted telephone number as part of a sales transaction at a store. The store enters the number into a computerized database and later sells the data to a telemarketing firm without the customer’s permission
* A university computer programmer develops a program to schedule classes as part of a job assignment. The programmer then accepts a job with another university and leaves with a copy of the program for use at the new place of employment

These computer crimes illustrate the gray areas of computer abuse, areas that fall increasingly on the shoulders of law enforcement to address and resolve.

International Issues:

Technological knowledge and expertise contribute to the growth of computer crime on an international level.

Businesses can make great use of the

* Unifying measures
* Open communications like the single, European-wide communication protocol
* Strong profit-oriented EU market spanning 12 countries
* Open borders
* Unification of technology standard
* Easier banking
* Monetary transfers between countries

Computer criminals are taking undue advantage of all these issues as:

* Emerging international crime-related issues
* Industrial espionage/competitive intelligence
* Economic/political espionage
* Expansion of international organized crime beyond traditional areas
* Theft of technological hardware

Computer criminals have adapted the advancements of computer technology to further their own illegal activities. Unfortunately, their actions have far out-paced the ability of police to respond effectively. Protocols must be developed for law enforcement to stall the various categories of computer crime. Investigators must know the materials to search and seize the electronic evidence to recover, and the chain of custody to maintain.

Surveillance methods differ based on the community, country, and, of course, the time period; but are you sure you’re up-to-date on the most effective ways to protect yourself currently available on the market? Many of today’s young parents grew up in a time when their moms and dads felt that home security consisted of a couple of bulldogs to alert the family in the unlikely event of a break-in. Sadly, times have changed, and new technological developments combined with the recent economic crisis have made criminal activity more likely than ever. Not only that, but when it does occur, nowadays it is often more potent because criminals have developed sophisticated tools to use when planning a hit on individual properties and people.

Criminals in the past have worked alone or in smaller, more loosely-defined groups. With the advent of the internet and the rise of global communication systems, such as the ubiquitous cell phone, today’s criminal masterminds are more formidable opponents than ever. We are all aware of precautionary steps that are useful to take in the event of a bomb threat or terrorist attack, and everyone has been made explicitly aware about the key points in security at airports, but when it comes to home security, are you safety-savvy? Having guests take off their shoes and walk through metal detectors may work to deter terrorists at JFK, but are you prepared to take threats to your home safety into your own hands? The older, tried-and-true methods your parents and grandparents used should not be totally cast aside, but merely updated to fit today’s modern world.

Becoming a member of the local Neighborhood Watch association is still an effective psychological tactic, which works wonders towards forcing would-be intruders to think twice before making your home a target. Simply knowing that someone is watching your home, whether that someone be a local friend, or a guard dog, is a great first step towards protecting your home. You might want to additionally consider looking into subscribing to some of the latest technological advancements in home security, a step many Americans are currently taking. Personal safety devices and alarms such as pepper spray or a loud horn are often good crime deterrents, and others, such as home alarms, are available to cover more of your property and environmental surroundings.

Personal safety devices can be worn on the user at all times, especially when walking alone or at night in unfamiliar areas and neighborhoods. Pepper spray, a longtime safety favorite (which should be tested by the user ahead of time to make sure it is properly employed), contains a highly potent, non-fatal liquid which is sprayed into the eyes of an attacker at a distance of up to 25 feet. This highly irritating spray temporarily blinds the attacker while you make a quick getaway; often, the spray incapacitates the attacker long enough for police to arrive, as well. A loud horn, while its effects wear off faster, can startle the attacker long enough to give you a window of time in which to escape. Along the same vein, a good home alarm system works in similar ways to startle and incapacitate intruders, throwing off their plans long enough for the homeowner to be alerted and police to be called. Mixing older tactics of vigilance with new technology is a surefire combination to ensure your home security.

Many people think that cheap home security is an impossibility. They feel excluded from the privilege of having a sense of security and peace of mind that their property, possessions, and family are safe. Such thinking is absolutely unnecessary. Many options are available that are very low cost and some of them are essentially free.

Burglar Deterrents
Several steps can be taken that will deter burglars from ever considering your home as a target.
* Keep your home well lit. You may be thinking about the cost of electricity, but burglars obviously prefer darkness and seclusion. Leaving some lights on may cost a few more pennies, but could keep you from loosing your valuables…and your peace of mind.
* Someone at home. We know you cannot be at home all the time, but you can give the appearance of someone at home. Lights and appliances (like the TV) can be set on timers that can turn them on and off automatically.
* A dog. A dog can serve as a kind of natural alarm system. Its bark is a kind of siren. You may not want to have a dog just for this purpose (there are costs and responsibility with pet ownership). But, if you are thinking about it anyway…
* Well-maintained property. Overgrown landscaping can play right into a burglar’s hands. They are looking for seclusion (hiding places). Trimmed shrubs and bushes cut down on the hiding spots. Also, keep things picked up around your yard. Things like gardening tools and other similar objects can become tools in a burglar’s hands to gain entrance into your home.
* Lock your doors and windows. This may sound so obvious, but it is amazing how many people don’t go to the “hassle” of locking their doors and windows. It is so simple and easy and may be your best defense.

Home Security Systems
Not all security systems are created equal. Neither do they cost the same. Within the ever-advancing field of wireless technology, home security systems is one area that has greatly benefited.
* Wireless security system. Wireless systems have brought the cost of home security down significantly. Many such systems can be installed by an average do-it-yourselfer. The overall system itself is typically much less expensive. You can also have more options as to the range of features chosen (from “bare bones” to an elaborate system with many peripherals). Obviously, cost varies with features.
* Fake security. The presence of a security system is known to reduce break-ins significantly. How about the appearance of the presence of an alarm system? This goes along with making it look like someone is at home when they are not. This is making it look like you have a fancy security system when you don’t. Remember, burglars are usually in a hurry and working in the dark. The ruse does not have to be elaborate. Face security cameras are available. One might acquire fake window stickers and yard signs such as provided by monitored security systems.

Don’t be confused by home security, quickly understand how a home security system works. Also see how even you can learn do-it-yourself home security. For much, much more, visit www.SecurityForMyHome.com.

The discovery of microRNA as an additional regulatory mechanism has been a revolution to the field of Developmental Biology. While early research has focused on the identification of miRNAs using a combination of experimental and computational techniques, subsequent studies have focused on identification of miRNA-target mRNA pairs as a means of identifying regulatory networks. It has been shown that the relationship between messenger RNA and microRNA (often an inverse relationship) plays a large role in cell functionality, especially in the early stages of cell development.

The identification of miRNAs, their target mRNAs, and the construction of their regulatory networks will provide new insights into complex biological procedures. There has been extensive computational analysis of transcriptome and microRNAome data; however, many of the datasets are derived from separate studies. There is a need for studies encompassing both datasets from cells within the same context for better understanding of miRNA – target interaction. Access to both datasets plus new bioinformatics capabilities represents a powerful new functional genomics tool for construction of cell development networks/pathways and also for unraveling the complex mechanism of action of miRNA.

In a recent study, researchers at the NIH used microarray analysis to show the correlation between mRNA and miRNA in neuronal cortical development1. Rat neuronal progenitors were obtained at days 11, 12, and 13 and their total RNA extracted. To evaluate the expression of mRNA a gene expression profile using the Affymetrix Rat Expression 230 2.0 microarray was used. Expression of miRNA was evaluated using miRNA microarrays (provided by LC Sciences). Both mRNA and miRNA expression was validated using qRT-PCR. Bioinformatics analysis was then carried out on the two datasets to show the negative correlation between predicted mRNA targets and miRNA expression, indicating a gene expression regulatory network at work. The negative correlation found in this study supports the theory that miRNAs play a larger role in modulating the expression of genes which are essential for cortical neurogenesis. As neuronal differentiation progresses, up-regulated miRNA may down-regulate the expression of genes which are no longer required.

The availability of mRNA and miRNA profiles from the same cell type represents a major limitation in the network analysis of genetic circuits. A platform capable of generating integrated datasets, not only from the same cell type, but from cells within the same context would be an important new tool for analysis of miRNA – target interaction. Such a tool may provide a solution for:

validation of computational methods of target prediction
discovery of novel regulatory pathways
elucidating the mechanism of action of miRNAs
providing datasets for the development of new pathway analysis algorithms
a diagnostic device for improving bio-molecular classification of human cancers

Druids are the most versatile class out of any other class in World of Warcraft. Like the Death Knight, they do not require a shield when they are tanking due to their unique bear form. In cat form, they are much like a rogue, where they can even stealth if they’d like to. While in shape form, a Druid is immune to polymorphing spells – and if they are caught out of a shape form, they can simply shift into a form to get out of a polymorph.

When utilizing the balance tree talent specialization, a druid gains access to a form known as moonkin. While transformed as a moonkin, the Druid gains a significant 370% armour bonus, as well as a raid-wide buff that increases critical chance by 5%. In addition, when someone does perform a critical strike on a target, they will be refunded 2% of their total mana. This makes Druids a welcomed addition to any party or raid, as they passively buff everyone around them. If a Druid becomes especially proficient in the moonkin form, they receive a 3% spell haste and 5% damage boost out of your total spirit.

At level 30, Druids get a unique travel form that grants the ability to travel 40% faster while outdoors or in certain areas.

When a druid is tanking, they utilize their dire bear form, which is an advanced version of the first form they receive: bear form. They receive 370% armour bonuses from whatever armour they are currently wearing, and they also gain a 25% boost in stamina.

When in water, Druids also gain the ability to shift into their water form, which gives them an additional 50% movement speed and the ability to breath underwater.

At level 70, Druids gain access to their flight form. This form instantaneously turns the Druid into a bird, even if they are falling at the moment. Their movement speed is increased by 60%, and when they upgrade to their epic flight form, they gain 280% speed.

When going down the restoration tree specialization, the Druid will gain access to the Tree of Life form. This form transforms the Druid into a walking tree and increases the healing capabilities to every ally within 45 yards of the Druid by 6%. During this time, the Druid may only cast restoration or neutral spells. All healing over time spells cost 20% less mana as well.

As healers, Druids overpower the damage coming onto their allies with effective healing over time spells. Often, they can stack these spells on top of each other and keep a steady flow of health points coming to their allies. In some cases, they can disperse a healing over time spell for instant healing.
Since the Druid cannot be polymorphed while shifted, and can easily shift to get out of polymorph, they are especially affective against mages in player versus player content.

Druids are the best class for beginners, because they are able to fill any role in a group. They can be a healer, a tank, a DPS or even a caster, making it very easy to move to a refreshing new part of the game if you become bored of a particular role. Just stick to this guide, and trust in its information, and you will become level 80 in no time at all.

Discover how you can level from 1-80 in under a week by reading Seth’s review of Zygors Leveling Guide. For more information about Druids, check out Seths Druid Leveling Guide.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is set to be one of the best online experiences the world has encountered. The original has simply pioneered first-person shooter games that we will play online in the future; the weapons are phenomenally realistic, the graphics are intense and the game play is smooth and quick. Also, the idea of kill streaks is one of a kind. But playing this game for so long, the standard kill streaks can get rather tedious.

Infinity Ward released a trailer depicting a portion of the online game play of the much anticipated Modern Warfare 2. Of course the main attraction of this trailer is the ability to customize your kill streak load outs – it shows the AC130 gunship, which we imagine the player controls, using the infrared image and the different calibre guns of the gunship just like the mission in CoD4.

Quite interestingly, the AC130 also appears to have a defence feature unlike the standard load outs in CoD4; there is a scene that lasts a number of seconds of a player firing a homing missile (awesome!) at the AC130, then the gunship reacts and releases a flare and it changes to the next scene before you see anything happen. Now, assuming the gunship released flares, the flares should take the gunships place and the missile will assume the flare is the target it is heading for. This will definitely make the battles more interesting!

Another cool little thing that’s worth pointing out is the new type of grenade that was introduced in this trailer; Semtex – just like the sticky grenades in Call of Duty: World at War (N° 74). Except this time they won’t be looking like giant gobstopper lollypops! These two new features should lead to some new and interesting strategies for the eagerly anticipated game Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, released in November 2009.

Written by Managing Director of MW2 Gamer Leon Rossiter, for more information on Modern Warfare 2 or our upcoming modern warfare 2 guide check out our Call of duty Modern Warfare 2 site.
