Video computer games have become as much a pillar of our entertainment universe as books and movies. Why is it that so many of us are drawn to the computer monitor or TV screen like flies? A bit of history might help explain the phenomenon.

Originally computers were all work and no play, being outrageously expensive to build and operate. But computer engineers and designers, being overgrown kids after all, soon began to get comfortable with their big room-filling machines. In their idle hours it occured to them that it might be kind of cool to have the computer show some spaceships and planets cruising around the galaxy. An in the 1960s a group of fun-loving computer geniuses created SpaceWar, the father of the famous arcade game Astroids.

These games were well received by geniuses and regular folks alike, which motivated the geniuses to design some more fun stuff. They could have used the computers for a lot of diversions, but somehow the visual element of the games activated the imagination. Over time we got Pong, PacMan and a continually evolving string of games, including software that eventually could beat chess masters at their own game.

By the late 1980s computer games software was getting quite sophisticated, with the invention of Sim City. This product expanded on what was going on through all the previous games; the players were being drawn into an imaginary world. Not unlike books and movies, these video games were very satisfying mentally. Sim City actually allowed the user to create amazing cities and even worlds.

Also in the 1980s, a group of computer programmers began creating software that would show moving images all generated by computer. The images started out very simple, almost like stick figures but they could dance in time to a music track. No skin, no facial features but it was very exciting to think what might come with more powerful computers. The computing power grew exponentially and, over 20 years, we now have not only some fabulout computer generated movie effects and whole characters, but the realism of video games has taken a quantum leap forward.

A good video game will draw you in to another world and, unlike a book or movie, a computer game will offer an interactive experience. In fact, at least one computer game has become sufficiently popular to become an action movie; think Mario Brothers. But it’s funny that sometimes a simple game can be as entertaining as a much more sophisticated game. Some of the most beloved games of all are Tetris (stack those blocks), Pac Man and Pong.

A modern computer will still do a great job of playing state-of-the-art video games. There are hundreds of options, including many that pit you online against other players. Then there are the specialty consoles like PlayStation, Nintendo and XBox360. With tricked-out controllers, guitars and wands, you can really develop some hand-eye coordination by playing many of the current titles.

One of the most fun educational games is Roller Coaster Tycoon, where you build your own amusement park and then operate it with “real” guests making decisions about which rides to take. If a guest loses their lunch on a roller coaster you’d better have a custodian clean it up or the guests will stay away. You must watch income and expenses and save money to build more attractions. This is a great game.

But the bottom line as to why we’re so enamored with computer games software is that it captures our imagination in a variety of interactive ways. Our games are prized possessions and it is wise to treat them carefully to make them last.

J. Michael Key has written widely on a variety of subjects. To learn how to back up all of your video games visit http://www.computer-games-software.com Back Up Computer Games Software

Nevertheless, the game’s performance does continue to some unfortunate trends of Sims games past.

It was the Rockstar North who developed the video game entitled Grand Theft Auto 4. This action pack adventure game is also known as the GTA IV. The Grand Theft Auto games have over a total of nine series and GTA IV is the ninth one.

The one which came before GTA IV is named GTA San Andreas. The game GTA IV was released with versions of Xbox and PlayStation 3 in April 2008. It is on this same release date when the game was released in America and Europe.

Months later, it was also released in Japan on the 30th of October 2008. Eventually, the game was released in the Windows version on December 2, 2008.

As we move to the game, you will learn that the Grand Theft Auto 4 was set in an imaginary Liberty city. When compared to the previous games, the version of the city existing in this game is different and completely redesigned. The city portrays the real New York as its inspiration and other things that go on in the city.

The protagonist of the game is a war veteran named Niko Bellic. Since his country is not specified, what we know about him is that he came from some country in Eastern Europe.

When this man comes to America in quest for the American Dream, he gets caught up in seedy dealings and affairs with the underworld in the city. What can one found in the city are numerous sort of vices that you can imagine like corruption, murder, etc. He gets pulled into a net of crimes and gangs and thus unable to come out.

The good part of the game is that you can undergo different experiences while playing it such as being a first person shooter, a third person shooter, and you can ride your car and what not. Those who have played a few of the versions of Grand Theft Auto may know precisely what I am talking about.

In fact the gaming experience that can be attained by any player of Grand Theft Auto 4 is the “open-world” game play which permits the players an enormous amount of hold over the playing experience. With your friends around the globe, you will all certainly enjoy the game for its mode has about fifteen game types and is available online with a multiple player.

Grand Theft Auto 4 is a game ever developed that broke all records of the gaming industry leading to its major critical success. After it was sold about more than for million on the first of release, anyone can say how big a commercial success the game is. There was about six million copies sold worldwide and over five million dollars was earned in its first week alone.

Until the sixteenth of August, the game had sold over ten million copies according to a consensus. This is not a heresy because when you come across to see the ranking charts of the MobyGames and the TopTenReviews, the Grand Theft Auto 4 is proven to be the highest rated game.

Choosing GTA 4 is the best choice as you wait for the next game to come. Get yours and experience a different level by playing this game.

In MCF: Ravenhearst, you are asked to investigate the remote and mysterious Ravenhearst Manor, located in Blackpool, England, after acquiring the incomplete diary of a young woman who used to live there. Instead of solving crimes by investigating various suspects, as was the goal in previous games, your task this time is to find the missing pages of the diary in order to piece together what happened to the girl and unlock the secrets of Ravenhearst.

Once you’ve found enough clues, you’ll be able to use the Crime Computer to finish the level off by completing a mini-game where you have to piece together an old photograph to receive a missing diary page.

In a new twist, certain rooms in the manor are protected by elaborate locking mechanisms that serve as fiendish multi-part puzzles in their own right. These creative and sophisticated challenges are a welcome evolution from the more simplistic set of mini-games that were featured in past MCF games.

Each missing diary page fills in part of an ongoing narrative that helps to tie all the levels together. The humor that was a staple of the series until this point has been abandoned in favor of a darker mood that is enhanced by suitably ominous music and sound effects.

MCF: Ravenhearst is challenging but manageable. Both modes on offer (Detective and Relaxed) have time limits for finding all the items, but Relaxed mode offers significantly extended time. You can use up to five hints per round that will not go as far as to reveal the item point blank, but rather will show a glowing circle around the area that the item is in to draw your attention there.

One of the great things about the MCF series – and Ravenhearst is no exception – is that you can play the game over and over again because each time you start a new game, you get a new set of clues to look for among the thousands of different items.

As the year goes on it is clear to see that the obsession with the Nintendo Wii is still very much at large. Last month the Nintendo Wii outsold the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 by at least a few hundred thousand units. In the US alone last month the Nintendo Wii sold just over 600,000 units.

As the Nintendo Wii brand gets bigger and bigger more and more add-ons are being released for it including the new Wii MotionPlus. The new Wii MotionPlus add-on has been designed to improve the user experience and make the whole thing more realistic. The only problem with the new Wii MotionPlus technology is that it is not backwards compatible with previous games so if you were hoping to have a little more control and realism to the very popular Wii Sports game then you will be sadly let down.

This summer will also see the release of the new Wii Sports Resort game which is the long awaited sequel for the massively popular ‘Wii Sports’. The new Wii Sports Resort will include such activities as jet skiing, Frisbee, and kendo. It has also been announced that the game will be compatible with the new Wii MotionPlus technology.

As the popularity of the Nintendo Wii is still growing it is being used for much more than it was originally intended. Now the Nintendo Wii is being used to help people lose weight, help rehabilitate people who have left physically disabled in some way or another and to help the aged keep fit and active. With so many different uses it is not surprising the Nintendo Wii has remained one of the most popular game consoles for the year.

Not so long ago the Nintendo Wii was sold out almost everywhere, but now shops seem to have extra stock of the Wii and even then there are some great deals for those who shop online.

Video game players around the world would not hesitate to offer a quick response when asked about Sonic the Hedgehog. The blue blur character from Sega of America made it’s debut in June of 1991 with a game title called ‘Sonic Games’. The Sega mascot was a quick hit, and seemed to do what it was designed to do, and that was to rival with Nintendo’s Mario character in the video game arena. Shortly after the release of the first game title the team at Sega moved to expand. Sonic the Hedgehog hit it’s peak in 1994 with the release of several game titles for Sony’s Playstation 2, and the emerging Xbox from Microsoft, which was gaining in popularity. Sonic fans everywhere enjoyed playing Sonic Adventure DX and a new pinball game called Sonic Pinball Party. Then came the first Sonic game title from Sega since 2001, in the shape of ‘Sonic Heroes’.

The preliminary screenshots of Sonic Heroes raised many expectations of what promised to be the best Sonic the Hedgehog game ever. Enticing images of blue skies, checkered hills, and the implementation of alternate routes that players could include in their strategy to complete the game, where all highly expected attributes. Additionally, some more avid players hoped for this release to be the entrance of Sonic into the world of 3D gaming. However, game fans everywhere where deeply disappointed after receiving what has later been labeled one of the worse instances of Sonic the Hedgehog ever made. Many of the issues with previous games where not addressed, such as camera problems in perspective and unresponsive controls, which resulted in a high amount of failed attempts during game play. Considering the game sends the player back to the start line after a failed attempt, it should not come as a surprise that the game produced it’s share of angry gamers. The overall structure of the game delivered and extremely difficult challenge to young sonic fans. Surprisingly enough, Sonic Heroes ended up selling very well, taking sixth place in the United Kingdom. A year after it first came out, the game title still maintained a top ten position in worldwide rankings.

It seems that Sonic fans have overlooked this shady episode of the blue blur as another step in the adventure. It was around this time frame in the year 2000, that Sega took a shot at the game console market with the introduction of the Sega Genesis console. Short lived and retired, Sonic fans seem to have forgotten all about it, along with the unresolved issues of Sonic heroes. The spiky blue blur continues to grow in popularity despite the obstacles, reaching over 20 million fans all over the world.
