After I had my home broken into, I finally decided it was time to get an alarm system installed. Of course if I had any common sense, I would have thought to get one before anything like that ever happened. But as such is the case, better late than never I suppose. At least now I feel much more secure when I’m away because I know that my house is being monitored at all times.

Believe me, aside from losing some of my valuables, I think the worst feeling was knowing that my personal privacy had been violated. Some stranger actually went through my personal things!

That had a greater psychological effect on me than actually losing a few personal belongings. The truth is, they didn’t take all that much. The police said it looked like teenage vandalism more than anything else. However, none the less, that stripped away my sense of comfort and security about my own home! Its a sad thing when you can’t even feel secure in your own house.

So began my quest for a good home security system. I would like to share with you what I have discovered and learned about the many different types of systems that I came across in my pursuit of the ideal home alarms system for me.

Hopefully this will act as an informative guide to give you a better idea on what you may need in regards to a good home alarm system.

First of all I have come across what I would say are the four main categories of Home Alarms Systems.

1 Do it your self systems
2.Wireless systems
3 Hard wired systems
4 Portable alarms systems

Ok so which one do you get?
The best way to determine what is the best system for your needs is to break it down into these two main categories.

Do you live in your own home or do you rent an apartment?

If you have your own home then it would be best to buy a wireless or hard wired system preferably with a monitoring service. These will offer you the best security for your home because they come equipped with emergency response systems that can alert the right authorities depending on what type of alarm is sounded. There are many different features that you can choose from within these types of alarm systems as well. More on that in a moment.

If you rent an apartment, then your best options would be to buy a ‘do it your self’(DIY) alarm or purchase a portable system.

There are a couple of reasons for this. Namely most established home security companies do not offer monitored systems for a rented dwelling. It is still possible to have a monitored system installed of course, however you would have to make an arrangement with your landlord to split the costs, and the system would still be in his/her name.

The benefits of portable systems and do-it-your-self systems is that they can be purchased at most local hardware stores, are inexpensive and easy to install. Depending on quality and performance, the prices can range anywhere from twenty dollars to approximately two hundred and fifty dollars.

Both portable and do-it-your-self systems come with a variety of basic features depending on the cost. The cheaper systems will come equipped with a few door and window sensors , these are usually wireless and battery powered. The
draw back is that the batteries need to be checked regularly to ensure your system is working properly.

More advanced systems will also come with motion detectors as well as door and window sensors. You may want to get a system that is electrically powered that also contains a back up battery to ensure constant security. This way,in the event of a power failure, you can be rest assured that your system will still function.

Although these systems don’t offer the same security as home monitored systems do, they can still be quite effective in thwarting a burglary. All in all, it is better to have some security measures in place than nothing at all.

Now lets take a look at hard wired or wireless monitored home alarms systems. If you have your own home then this is definitely the best option for you.

These systems can come with a variety of features, ranging from window, door sensors, and motion detectors, perimeter sensors , surveillance cameras, panic alarm buttons and fire alarms. A good alarm company will also include professional installation, ensuring that all the main entry points are covered, that the system functions properly, and the installer will also give you a detailed explanation on how to use it properly.

The main differences between a hard wired system and a wireless system is basically the cost. Hard wired systems will tend to cost more because of the extra hardware and because the installation will be much more complex.Installing such a system will require the drilling of holes and placement of wires through the walls. There tends to be more maintenance involved with hard wired systems as well.

In my opinion,a wireless system is the best choice because of its equal effectiveness and of course its alot friendlier on the wallet.

You will have to make a decision based on your needs and budget, as a fully equipped system with all the “bells and whistles can cost quite a bit. A high end system like this can start anywhere from one thousand dollars and go up to two or three thousand dollars. This does not even cover the monitoring fee, which can usually range from twenty to forty dollars a month.

However besides having the benefit of home security, you can actually save money on your house insurance premiums. You can get up to a 10% discount on your premiums depending on the cost and quality of your security system. So this can help offset the costs of maintaining your home alarm system.

It is always recommended to shop around as much as possible and take your time in deciding which is the right set up for
you.

Whether by choice, or necessity everyone will need to move at least once in their lives. Regardless of the reason for moving, you will find new experiences.

Depending on how much furniture, accessories and household belongings you own, your first consideration is whether to either move yourself or hire a moving company. Either way, getting a moving truck rental has a number of factors you must evaluate. The more furniture, accessories and personal belongings you own the larger the truck you need to rent. You will be able to compare the costs of different truck rental companies, what is included in the quote, and what is considered as extras.

When looking at different moving companies, if you are moving a fair distance, you may want to look for National Moving Companies to find the right company. You will want to look at more than one company before you make your choice, each company has different things to offer. Some move by the number of rooms which is to be transported. Others move by a combination of rooms and mileage. It is important to obtain any quotes or estimates in writing. An estimate will not give you the final total until you sign the agreement, where as a quote is fixed. Getting a fixed estimate is preferable to avoid extra charges at the end of the move over and above the quote that is just an estimate. Normally the moving company will visit you prior to giving a fixed estimate to ascertain the exact number of rooms of items and belongings to be moved.

You may not want to drive if you are going a long ways even more so if there are kids involved. If you need to ship a vehicle, there are several car shipping to choose from . This is usually done either by train or auto transport carrier to your new location for a flat fee.

Prior to the move, you may want to travel either alone or with your children to the new location to get familiar with the surrounding area. With a GPS system, you will be able to find these places again. If you have never purchased a GPS unit, now is the time. Most stores carry them in their electronics department. There are many brands in which to choose from. Each one has its own options to choose from. Some GPS now have a voice command to let you know when you get to a turn. GPS is advancing to include being able to attach your cell phone through its Bluetooth compatibility. This allows you hands free talking as is required in many states. With the GPS system, you can click on points of interest at your new location to learn where there are nearby gas stations, restaurants, community venues and other stores and services which you will want to know about when you relocate.

GPS systems aren’t the only things that can help make your move simple. Interstate movers and auto transport services can greatly lower the stress that you feel when moving. Learn more from the experts and make your move simple today!

Do you suppose that only business people are the only kind of people that buy security safes? If you do, then you are wrong. People that have important items that they want to keep safe buy security safes. Most commonly, a safe is used to protect personal items such as money, things that have been passed down from generation to generation, pictures and basically anything that you do not want anyone else getting their hands on. People also buy safes because they do not want their valuables getting destroyed either by a fire or a natural disaster.

Safes are a good investment for everyone, every family and every business. Some things that we put away we tend to have an emotional attachment to. These things might include old family photos, love letters, antiques, collectibles, things from our childhood, items passed down from deceased relatives, etc. If anything were to happen to any of these items, a piece of us would go with them. Obviously, material items often do hold a very special value for many people, and it is important that we take caution to make sure that they stay in one piece and in our possession only.

Many parents will often buy security safes for their children. It can be a way to teach them a form of responsibility at a very young age. It can also be a way of telling them that they need to take good care of their personal belongings. Both large and small businesses alike place an extremely high value on owning security safes. Some of the items that a small or large business might need a safe for might include, personal documents, personal documents of the other employees, money, licenses and other necessary items needed to run a successful business. Luckily, mostly every business has a safe these days and that is a very smart investment within itself. Sometimes people do not realise the number of things that can potentially go wrong until they actually do. Having a safe can mean the difference between being employed and being unemployed. Safes can take a lot of stress off the business owner.

People that have been broken in to before are also the types of people that own safes. You can find a safe inside of a young teenager’s room that usually holds things like comic books, jewellery, love letters, collector video games and other important material items. The types of items that people store in safes are too numerous to mention here. The bottom line is that anyone can own a safe; they are affordable and can be stored anywhere inside of your home or business that you find necessary. If you need help choosing the right one for your home or business, there are people that you can ask for guidance. People that own safes possess a sense of security over their items that nothing else can give them, they know that no matter what, their personal and important belongings are going to be protected.

You might say that homeowners today are lucky that home safes offer a many different ways to secure valuables, from securing small items of jewellery and cash, to computer data and even larger items such as weapons or art objects. The range of personal safes or safety storage facilities extends not only to the traditional wall safe with key combination lock, similar to that found in financial institutions, but to the smaller, more humble safe, that any person should have installed.

Why should you acquire a home safe? Markedly, the safety it can guarantee, gives us peace of mind. However, there are several advantages to being able to store your precious and valuable possessions in a secure manner, not all of which are immediately obvious.

The first benefit is obviously to safeguard your personal belongings from theft. Typically, most home burglaries last no more than 5 minutes, with typical break-ins taking less than 3 minutes. Thieves do not tend to stay very long They are often thorough, and will turn the property into a mess looking for likely objects such as money, jewellery, wallets, credit cards, cell phones and such like.

Having a home safe will absolutely prevent any thief to either find your valued and valuable items, or steal them from the home. However, this depends on the exact type of safe which you have in place. If you decide to opt for the roll bolted steel case, which is extremely heavy, fairly large, and bolted to the joists or beams of the home, then a burglar may well notice it, but be able to do little more than this.

The weight and the method by which it has been bolted to the fabric of the building prevent thieves from accessing your valuables. Consequently, this will discourage them for 2 reasons First of all, they will conclude that anything worth stealing has been locked away security, beyond reach, which may encourage them to leave the property and look elsewhere.

The fact that you have installed a quality home safe will most likely make them suspect that you have other security devices in place, such as a hidden security camera, soundless alarms and such like. This will also tend to discourage them from proceeding, and chances are the will leave the property early.

By leaving the home early, not only is there a greater chance that items which might have been removed remain in your home, but there may be less turmoil caused when they were discouraged to steal from you in the first place.

Home safes clearly have a variety of advantages in terms of security, from safeguarding the valuables within the safe itself, to discouraging thieves. There is, however, more to having a safe installed in your home. When it comes to protecting your belongings, it is easy to consider the physical items we own such as cash, credit cards, jewellery and such like. Nevertheless, today we live in a world where there is great value and sometimes sentimental value attached to valuables which we cannot physically touch or hold and are therefore more difficult to keep safe.

PC information forms a grand part of our lives, and there is barely a single home today which does not have at least 1 PC, on which may be stored a wealth of important or valuable information. We take thousands of digital photos, and hundreds of hours of videos, not to mention documents, programs, pdf files, passwords, mails and so on. These kind of data are, in many cases, quite irreplaceable, and need to be securely backed up.

A quality home safe provides an additional security benefit beyond theft. PC date can be erased and even damaged beyond recovery by heat, frost, moisture, radiation and sunlight. We tend to look at our computers and disks and assume that they are safe, but the contrary is true. What good is backing up your children’s precious digital photos and videos if your disks are simply stored into a drawer? A flood, theft or fire would erase them from history forever.

Home safes today are available with a incredible number of security options, including both climate control and protection against fire and flood. By storing your digital data in a safe, then whatever happens to your house, you can be confident that your memories, personal data and other valuable information will remain safe and sound for you to access in the future.

Home safes provide something which is more valuable than anything else imaginable – peace of mind. The more data, cash or precious valuables you have, the greater the stress and worry that you experience. With threats from burglaries and crime to natural disasters and household accidents, our most valued items are continuously under threat. Installing a safe in your house will help you to relax and enjoy the present, knowing the past and the future are, without a doubt, protected.

Burglary is a crime that strikes fear into people all across the world. For many home owners the thought of a criminal entering their home and stealing their personal belongings is spine chilling. Even worse is the thought that you may have to confront an armed burglar in your own home!

Carelessness is a persons biggest fault in attracting the attention of burglars as it can often make a home an attractive proposition for a burglar. Many burglaries are thought out crimes where the criminal has identified an opportunity to commit their crime with as little obstacles as possible and with little chance of detection. A burglar is more likely to be attracted to a home that has a side gate, window or door open as this immediately gives them easy access to the house. Being an opportunist a burglar will also be attracted to a home that has gardening tools or ladders in the garden as this may help them force entry or gain access to higher entry points. There are several steps that a homeowner can take to prevent the risk of burglary. The obvious basics are to ensure all windows, doors and gates are securely shut and locked whenever you are out so the burglar does not have any temptation. If out for an evening leave a light on so that the house looks occupied and do not leave a key under a plant pot or door mat as many burglars will check these places first. If you are away for a period of time ask a neighbour to call in regularly and remove any build up of milk bottles or mail as this is a clear sign to a burglar that someone is away.

These preventions can help reduce the risk of theft from your home but to be completely prepared any home owner should have house insurance or buildings insurance as it is sometimes known. It is important to compare home insurance to ensure you get the best value for money package.

The Internet offers home owners a new way to shop for home insurance. You don’t have to be stuck to the same insurance company that you have used for years because you don’t have time to visit different insurance agents to check the rates they charge.

You can enjoy shopping for insurance from your home computer and request free quotes from as many insurance providers as you wish. Experts will tell you that in order to do a good comparison of the rates, you should request three or more quotes and then sit back and compare them.

When you request multiple home insurance quotes, it is imperative that you provide the same information to each provider to ensure that you are getting coverage for the same things. Although the bottom line in helping you decide which of the home insurance quotes you accept is the price, this is not the only factor you should consider in the comparison.

Before you start shopping for online home insurance quotes, you do need to make a list of what you need to have in insurance coverage for your home, personal belongings and your outbuildings. You have to look at the cost of replacing your home at today’s rates when considering the coverage you should have.

This may be a lot more than it cost you to build the home or the amount you paid in the purchase price. If you are in any doubt contact a builder to find out what it would cost to rebuild and use this figure as a guide in helping you get the coverage you need in a home insurance quote.

If you have a pool, you may need to consider extra coverage in the home insurance quote you request to cover damages to the pool and liability coverage for any guests who may be injured in or around the pool. Take stick of your valuables because while your personal belongings are part of the coverage equal to half of the coverage of your home, the quote will not include coverage for furs, expensive artwork or jewelry. You will need to have extra insurance on these items.

The amount of deductible you choose will affect the cost of homeowner insurance quotes. Choosing a higher deductible means you will get a lower premium. In each of the home insurance quotes you request, make sure you choose the same level of deductible for each one in order to do an accurate comparison.

Water damage from inside the home, such as from broken water pipes, is standard coverage in home insurance policies. However, damage sustained from outside sources, such as a river close to your home overflowing its banks, is not part of a standard home insurance quote. If you need this extra coverage, you will have to specify this in your request.

When you finalize the home owner insurance comparison and narrow down your choice to one or two insurance companies, check out these companies before you make your purchase. Check the rating of the companies to make sure they are solvent. Another important factor to consider is the customer service the company provides.

Check customer reviews to see if there have been complaints against the company and to see how long it will take you to get results if you do have to submit a claim. If you are satisfied with all the information, then you can conveniently purchase the policy online without having to leave home or take time off work to do so.

Research has proven that alarms are easy for professional burglar to disarm or get around them. Burglar alarms are good to have but the above mentioned fact can be a serious issue when it comes to the protection of your family and personal belongings. The homeowner sometimes forgets to turn on the burglar alarm and doe not lock windows and doors. Technology cannot help if basic protective necessities are not utilized.

The one day that you forget to turn the alarm on could be the day a criminal enters into your home and does some house cleaning. People can cash in on an error of this nature. The professional burglar is familiar with the alarms and can find their way around them. Even the most expensive alarm on the market cannot help you if you fail to set it.

Home alarms are not activated unless all windows and doors are closed properly. The control panel requires a password to turn it on or off. Deactivating the unit is just as important as activating it. If the alarm goes off when you are entering it may alert the authorities erroneously.

It doesn’t take much time for a home to be burglarized. A burglar can get away with your things within 15 minutes. Sometimes burglars work as a team but usually they work single-handedly. The professional burglar always does research first to decide where and when to strike next. Burglars don’t strike homes they do not know; they will study the home first. They even research alarm systems to see how they operate. From the shadows, they will see what the password is and shut off the alarm, making way for him or her to enter the home. Once the alarm is off the burglar enters the home and does the job.

The burglar immediately leaves the scene of the crime if he or she accidentally sets it off or move to a different area of the home. Since the alarms are loud, people will notice the break in. Many alarms immediately alert the police, so the burglar is taken aback and leaves. This technology is an excellent investment but make sure to turn the alarm on before leaving.
