The 1960 California Golden Bears basketball team went 28-2, but lost the NCAA Championship to Ohio State. In 1959, California started the season unranked and not expected to place higher than fourth in their conference. Yet, the team went 26-4 and won the NCAA Championship. Although four of the five starters from the 1959 team graduated, the 1960 team was better.

The reason for California’s success was their coach, Pete Newell. Newell invented the full court press, the four-corner stall, the reverse action offense and the concept of playing big men near the basket on defense.

On game days, Newell would drink 20 cups of coffee and smoke two packs of cigarettes. Explaining his nervousness, Newell said that “Basketball is a game of mistakes, and the team making fewer mistakes generally wins…. We’re constantly trying to minimize mistakes.”

Newell had his players play practice games at fast and slow speeds. “We want to use tempo as a weapon, Newell said. “When we play a ball-control team, we try to force them into a faster tempo of play. When we play a fast-breaking team, we try to slow down the tempo with ball control.”

Newell’s focus was on defense. “The players seem to realize that through increased defensive play they can offset a poor shooting performance and still win the game. We’re usually in one form of a press throughout the game because it is important always to have pressure on the ball. Through our pressure, we are trying to increase an opponent’s mistakes.”

Newell emphasized conditioning in practice. “Sometimes we have to wear an opponent down,” Newell said. “A player should be conditioned to play the last five minutes of a game, not just the first five.”

Newell’s ideas were ahead of his time and have been adopted by virtually every successful coach today. Hall of Fame coach Bobby Knight has said he believes Newell is one of the best coaches ever. “He has the best all-around grasp of the game of anyone I’ve ever been around,” Knight said.

Tom Fitzpatrick, the leading scorer on the 1959 team, described Darrall Imhoff and Bill McClintock, the two leading scorers on the 1960 team, in less than flattering terms. Imhoff was so uncoordinated that he “could hardly walk when he came to Cal.” McClintock was so uncoordinated that in 1959 when he played with Fitzpatrick, McClintock “couldn’t complete the basic practice drills as a sophomore. He couldn’t do it.”

Imhoff didn’t even start on his high school team. Imhoff may have not been the most athletic 6’10” center who ever played the game, but he averaged 13.7 points and 12.4 rebounds in 1960. He grew into a solid defensive player and shot blocker under Newell.

Imhoff’s 371 rebounds in 1960 are the second most in a season for a Golden Bear. Imhoff was named to the All-America team in 1960. He played on the gold medal winning 1960 Olympic team under Newell as well.

Imhoff was the third pick in the 1960 NBA draft behind Oscar Robertson and Jerry West. He played 12 years in the pros, averaging 7.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Imhoff has the dubious honor of being the center against whom Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in an NBA game.

Opponents averaged only 49.5 points per game against Cal’s fearsome top-ranked defense in 1960. Cal blasted through the regular season, losing only once. The loss was at USC, 65-57.

In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Cal dismantled Idaho State, 71-44 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Imhoff scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds.

The Golden Bears then traveled to Seattle for the regionals. Cal’s first opponent in Seattle was Santa Clara. Cal won 69-49. Cal’s defense held Santa Clara to 32.7 percent shooting from the field. Imhoff scored 16 and pulled down 12 rebounds. Cal’s second opponent in Seattle was Oregon. Cal beat Oregon 70-49. Cal’s defense held Oregon to 31.3 percent shooting from the field. Imhoff scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds. Junior forward Bill McClintock, the player too uncoordinated to run basic practice drills as a sophomore, scored 12 points and brought down 15 rebounds.

In the Final Four, for the second year in a row, California faced Cincinnati, led by senior superstar Oscar Robertson. For the third year in a row in 1960, Robertson led the nation in scoring with 33.7 points per game. Cincinnati was ranked number one in the nation from the beginning of the season to the end. Cal was ranked number two. Cal won 77-69. Cal’s defense shut Robertson down. Robertson managed to score only 19 points. He was a dismal 4 of 16 from the field. Imhoff scored 25 and had 11 boards. McClintock scored 18 and had 10 boards.

In the NCAA Championship game, Cal took on Ohio State. Ohio State completely dominated the first half of the game, 37-19. The Buckeyes shot 16 of 19 from the field and shut down the Golden Bears with great defense. At halftime, Newell told his players they needed to get more defensive rebounds. Imhoff answered, “Coach, there have only been three, and I got all of them.”

California made a comeback run at the start of the second half, but faded and lost the game 75-55. “We had a defensive plan,” Newell said, “but they beat us with their quickness, especially Mel Nowell.” The Buckeyes wound up shooting 67percent.

Imhoff was named to the All-Tournament team. Pete Newell retired from coaching after the 1960 season despite being only about 44 years old.

How would the 1960 California Golden Bears do against the teams of today? How would they handle the shot clock and the three pointer?

The 1960 Golden Bears were not a very talented or athletic team in 1960. The more athletic players of today and the shot clock would make it even more difficult for California to compete today. The Golden Bears were small other than Imhoff, but were not good outside shooters. The inability to make three pointers would enable opposing teams to collapse on Imhoff, making it very difficult for him to score. Cal had these same problems in 1960, however, and Pete Newell’s great coaching took them to the NCAA Championship game anyway. California’s team defense and lack of mistakes carried them very far, and might do so even today.

World of Warcraft Insights takes a look at the rouge class. Rouges are fun to play due to their fast hitting nature for great sustained dps as well as their ability to go into a fight and only get hit two to three times. So if you want to kill fast yet not get hit a lot hear is your class. Also rouges are second to only hunters as fastest levelers in the game.

Rouges rely on energy which regenerates faster than mana though you only can get up to 130 energy but most stay at 100. They also use things called combo points to deal “finishing moves” that can do a number of things from high damage to increased attack speed. A rough must use small skills in his arsenal to gain combo points for these attacks.
Lastly rouges rely on poisons to help them do the dirty part of their jobs.

Rouges can also stealth, aka become invisible to enemies around them, this can really come in handy in all aspects of the game.

Assassination rouges really shine in pvp and in some raiding due to their fast hard hitting nature focusing on finishing moves.

Combat rouges are a good versatile build which deals strictly in upping survivability through damage and damage mitigation.

Subtlety rouges deal a lot with crowd control as well as pluses to your stealth abilities. Its said that in this build your opponent should rarely be able to do anything due to the extended periods of stun lock that they should be in. This build is another build that is great all around and has uses in pvp, raids, or soloing.

Hope you enjoyed another one of these insights. For more World of Warcraft Insights please visit http://www.squidoo.com/world-of-warcraft-insights

When it comes down to questions we have a lot of poker strategy answers. The general consensus with the non poker playing world is that poker is a game of luck. Those who have played the game and understand it, understand it’s a game of skill. Players have to be able to read a board, understand math, understand psychology, all while attempting to make the best hand. While its true that the cards you’re holding don’t determine if you will or will not win the hand (unless you’re playing with someone who doesn’t know how to play, in which case the only thing that matters is the cards you’re holding) its important not to be making moves that will cost you money in the long run.

Yeah, you can bluff your opponent and pick up a pot here and there but sooner or later they will call you. It’s important to pick your spots. If you bluff too much, you’re just throwing away chips. If you keep chasing straights and flushes, you’re throwing away chips. Pick your spots wisely.

So what’s the most important element in poker strategy? Knowing the types of players you are up against. You can learn a lot about a person by watching them play. Notice their hand selection, keep track of whether or not they like to chase, like to play certain hands, etc. People are creatures of habit. Even professional poker players have “favorite” hands they like to play. Granted, the pro is more disciplined about when they’ll play a favorite hand, and have a variety of different ways to play each hand, but they are still creatures of habit. It’s inevitable that a pro will have a certain underlying strategy in which they approach the game.

Let’s take Sammy Farha for instance. You know the guy is going to play a lot of hands and take a lot of risks. Now you’re playing against the player knowing how he likes to play. Yeah, he’ll switch it up here and there but there is an underlying style to which he’s playing. Same applies with any other player. They have an underlying poker personality. They can switch gears from playing only a few hands to playing a few more hands but overall a tight player will be playing tight more than not and a loose player will play loose more often than not. It’s part of the psychology of poker.

Watch some players for a bit. Keep track of what they win with. Keep track of betting patterns. This is much easier to do online than in live play. You can keep notes if you’re playing online without anyone noticing. Watch for patterns and learn some profiles. Then you’ll have your poker strategy answers on how to beat the player.

3D tennis is for tennis lovers who want to play their game even on cloudy days. If you love playing tennis without worrying about the number of calories you burn, you will love this 3D game! You have to play against the computer and win the cup. The idea of the match is to make the computer lose the game. You can have your friends playing in their own computers to see who wins the cup first. The entire game is played using only your mouse. The player will move as you move your mouse pointer. The initial pre-match will help you play the match on a clay court. After you win the match, you can proceed to the next level to play to win the cup.

The game is very interesting, as you don’t have any other distraction. The power of hitting the ball is determined by the way you hold the left mouse button. You can beat your opponent by hitting the ball using various powers. You have to move as the ball is hit by your opponent so that you can give a smashing return hit. You should be swift in your action because the computer plays intelligently. As you continue playing the game, you will feel that you are actually playing in a real tennis court. The 3D graphics used in the game are plain and simple without any distraction. After each point, the score is displayed as like that of a real tennis match. You will see how much you and your component scored so that you can make your strategies accordingly.

Each set in 3D tennis consists of four games and the highest game winner wins the set. Don’t let your opponent win the set because you can’t proceed to the next level if you don’t win the match. Just like the original tennis tournament, you have to play with multiple players continuously to win the tournament. Even though the beginning levels are easier, the game gets much more difficult as you proceed to the next levels. Tennis games are inherently interesting because you never know where the next shot will go!

As you move on to the next levels, you can find changes in the tennis court and costumes of the opponent even though game play remains the same. Tennis matches are addictive and you will be forced to play the game until you win the cup. The best part with the exciting match is that you have to keep your concentration high on each shot because if you miss any movement, you will lose points. It has to be admitted here that the computer is very intelligent and gives nice shots back.

3D tennis can be played online or it can be downloaded to your computer and can be played. During online play, it is not possible to record your game and restart from the last level and hence, you should play the game continuously until you either win or lose. At any time, you can view the scores and play accordingly.

The played online is an online played game site. It has Action games, Arcade games, Puzzle games, Adventure games, Strategy games,Shooting games, Sports games, Board games and many more. One of the very intersting game is 3D tennis. Give it a try you’ll love it!

Oklahoma Gin is a specific Gin Rummy variant, which demands skill. Oklahoma Gin also is a close relative of Gin Rummy.

The first and foremost” beginner’s strategy” observes that a newcomer should come up with second card option if he misses the chance to pick up a targeted card that already has been discarded. It reasonably might happen, as Oklahoma Gin usually is played with a single deck of cards, and there is no chance to avail the similar card all through the game. Such situations gradually help a novice to get acquainted with the tricks and strategies of this game and make them dynamic.

The next, and also the most important strategy confirm that in the Oklahoma Gin a beginner should concentrate on his opponents move and the cards they are drawing from the discard pile. They must also stay away from drawing cards from the discard pile. And that is to keep one’s game plan undisclosed. And once an opponent player is unable to divulge the new comers hand he just starts playing under immense pressure.

The third strategy observes that while discarding, the novice should discard a card that actually sounds ineffective. But on the contrary it is equally important to keep in mind that the same discarded card should not fulfill his opponents need. Further to learn about this tactics of discarding the right cards, a beginner must be very watchful. Usually in the Oklahoma gin card game, the players at the beginning of the game, shows the propensity in getting rid of high value cards to avoid scoring negative points. The beginners well can be benefited from such move and at least can think of forming sequences with high card value. But they must well be cautious and must ignore such temptation as waiting for the high-ranking cards until the last phase of the game can prove to be as a fatal move.

The fourth beginner’s strategy concentrates on melding, as it is in fact treated as the essential move of this card game. If a player possesses a valid group or sequence in his hand, then he may lay one of such combination face up in front of him. But the beginners should note that they couldn’t meld more than one combination in a turn, as the Rummy rules never permit any player in doing the same. Further melding is optional.

The fifth and final strategy observes that it really makes sense in performing the knock promptly and not offering the opponents any further chance in reaching a lower Deadwood. Whenever a player “knocks”, usually the round ends. At his turn, a player, according to the Oklahoma Gin rules, is having the option to end the play. But the beginner must memorize that after drawing a card he must form adequate combinations, i.e., “Sets and Runs”. Knocking is optional. A beginner may continue playing, if he intends to develop a better hand.

Rummy 500 is also a member of the “Rummy” family, the most accepted family of card games. It is further and most commonly known as “Five Hundred Rum”. Every exclusive card game demands specific game strategy. Rummy 500 also demands the same.

Application of 500 Rummy strategies entirely depends upon the stages of the game. Beginners should apply the same either in the early stages or while they are approaching the closing stages of the game. Further paying attention to the discarded cards and the cards that already has been picked up from the discarded pile are essential for the beginners. This might lead them to a win.

While playing this card game Rummy-500, a beginner should very well keep in mind that the object of this most accepted game is to score 500 points.

While playing Rummy-500, the beginners should start discarding their high cards specifically when his opponent is having few cards left in their hand. High cards may cause negative effect on their score if remained in his possession when that hand ends.

A novice to this card game Rummy-500 should not discard such card that might be utilized in a sequence with previously discarded cards that have already been discarded.

Note: Discarding a card and that also without knowing whether or not the opponent can really mak use of it, is known as “blind discard”. This is common on the first discard of a deal.

The “beginner’s strategy” also indicates that a learner from the very beginning should start collecting high scoring cards. In this card game Rummy-500 one must prevent their opponent from using such cards for their gain.

A beginner should be conscious about the cards that already have been played and they must tactically discard in view of that.

Moreover, it’s an improved strategy to “entice” an opponent player by discarding those cards that confirms low point value melds.

A learner should take note that in the beginning of the game it is reasonable to hold a large stack of discarded cards but his strategy must be to ignore such cards specifically if he can sense that his opponent possibly depart soon.

A beginner strategy should be that he must hold the Aces, as later on he can play it as a suit or sequence. As, in such moves the Aces confirm more points.

The new comers to this card game Rummy 500- also must take note that they can enjoy the advantage of picking up more than one card from the discard pile in their turn. And under such process they can even call “Rummy”. But for that, they essentially have to identify those accurate cards that really can form a valid meld.
Finally here comes the winning strategy for the new comers. “Going out” by achieving a cumulative score of 500 or more is the most accepted way to win a hand in Rummy-500. Even if the opponents do have higher scores. But a beginner should as well keep in mind that despite the fact that they are having higher score can do nothing if the opponent previously goes out.

Kalooki, the most popular Rummy game in UK can well be treated as an important variant of the classic Rummy game. It also incorporates the use of Two Jokers that are to be used as wild cards.

The beginners while playing Kalooki should bear in mind that they should correctly go after these following steps. As, these steps will further help them to gain a common sensitivity regarding the Kalooki game strategy.

In the very beginning the beginners must keep in mind that the card game Kalooki usually is played with a total of 106 cards. And specifically in Kalooki they can have the opportunity in receiving every card twice, along with the jokers.

And while drawing, the beginners must learn to draw the right cards. Also in Kalooki it indicates the possibilities of winning. They must pick up the right card from the stockpile and should avoid the discard pile.

In Kalooki even discarding the right cards is mandatory. A beginner must learn to get rid of cards that are not utilizable. On the contrary it is also important that by any means the opponent player should not take advantage of those cards.

While playing Kalooki, the beginners as well should carefully watch their opponents move, specifically about their discard and pick. This actually confirms a player that what their opponent’s hand consists of.

As the card game kalooki observes that a players meld’s’ total count should reach 51 or more previous to going down for the initial time. Naturally a beginner should aim to reach 51.

In the card game Kalooki, one of the most important elements is “Building”. A beginner, during his turn may add matching cards to melds that has been already laid down either by them or his opponents during previous rounds.

A beginner should further try to draw and discard cards in such a way so that those can provide them immense opportunities in completing their duo into melds.

While melding a Joker in Kalooki, a beginner must make use of it in a run. As, his opponent should not be able to replace it with a significant card.

The main object of playing Kalooki is to “Go Kalooki”. So for a beginner it is necessary to keep close watch on their opponents’ every move, specifically what they’re drawing and discarding. But they should not hang around for Going Kalooki if his opponents earlier have laid down the melds.

If you are a beginner and not yet played Gin Rummy, then before you proceed further just go through the different strategies of this most popular card game. This card game observes uncomplicated rules and can easily be understood even by a novice. Basically Gin Rummy was started as a home entertaining card game. Even the rules remained same since then, only the variations took place accordingly. But the game still behaves the same.

The classic game Gin Rummy ensures a player to come up with an individual Gin Rummy strategy.

In the beginning a beginner must try to understand the kind of hand that he is holding. As, in Gin Rummy this knowledge will further lead to him to a quick Knock, or a possible Gin hand. The only thing that is needed is the skill and a beginner should develop the same by regular practice.

In Gin Rummy the beginner should observe his opponent cautiously. Specifically what have are picking up, and what they have left. This has been observed that the good players usually never pick up an open card provided they feel to use the same in a meld. They should also bear in mind that what actually their opponent choose and further stay away from throwing such cards that could help them in completing their meld. They must repeat the same and also should remain cautious, as some player might behave differently.

While playing with more than single opponent in Gin Rummy, the beginner must carefully observe all such cards that has been discarded, as one of them may be the accurate one that he actually need to form his melds and further adjusting his hand accordingly.

A beginner must know that a Set is better than a run. As, a set (or group) confirms at least three cards of a same value or rank such as 7d, 7h, 7s or 3 Q’s. On the contrary a run (or sequence) comprise three or more cards of the same suit in a sequence or consecutive order, such as 4c, 5c, 6c + or 8h, 9h, 10h, Jh. And if a player holds a set then the opponent is unable to lay off any card in Gin Rummy.

Beginners should be well cautious before availing the option of going Gin and that is to knock with no unmatched cards to avail better score. Usually in Gin Rummy a player receives 25 bonus points and the opponent player’s entire deadwood counts if he “goes gin”. But if the chances are less then they should knock with 10 or less deadwood points on any turn and further not allowing their opponent to go gin and take away the bonus points.

Finally it is mandatory for all the beginners that they should develop their Gin Rummy strategy by playing with plenty of different players and further must try to follow various tactics, as it sounds reasonably helpful. An application of improvised strategy always comes up with positive results and ultimately leads to win. And that is indeed a fact.

In Runescape the main goal is to become strong! Learn how to train your attack, strength, defence, magic, range, prayer and hotpoints skills.

Here are all the skills you need and the best way to acquire them.

Melee (close combat):
Melee is simply fighting your opponent up close, whether its with a sword, fists or any weapon that you hit your opponent with. Melee consists of attack, strength and defence (these will be explained below).

Attack:
Your attack level determines how often you hit your opponent. When you hit your opponent you will see a red splat with a number in it, the number is the amount of hotpoints (hp) you have deducted from your opponent (if the splat is blue you have hit zero). Once you reach a certain attack level you will be able to wield new weapons. Attack will often be referred to as “att” in Runescape.

Strength:
Your strength level determines how much you can hit, the higher your strength, the higher the number in the red splat will be. Strength will often be referred to as “str” in Runescape.

Defence:
Your defence level determines how often your opponent will hit on you, the higher your defence, the lower the number in the splat will be. Once you reach a certain defence level you will be able to wear new armor. Defence will often be referred to as “def” in Runescape.

Mage (using spells):
Mage (magic) is simply using rune stones to cast spells and harm your opponent, there are many types of spells, all giving different amounts of damage and using different amounts/types of runes and requiring different levels to use. Mage is slow but hits very high and is good against melee but usually weak against range. Mage can also be used for tasks other than killing things, you can use it for:

Alching (turning an item into gp).
Superheat item (used for smelting ore) note using superheat give 100% chance of smelting iron ore into a bar.
Teleporting (there are spells that can take you to various places).
Binding (these spells hold your opponent for a certain amount of time).
Mage is used a lot in the wilderness for player killing (I talk more about player killing further down).

Range:
Range usually uses a bow and arrow but can also use things like a dwarf cannon or throwing weapons. Range is good because it is very fast and you can also retrieve your arrows, making it cheaper than mage.

Prayer:
Getting your prayer level up gives you the ability to use different prayers, prayers give you extra bonuses, for example they might make you better at attack or defence or protect item which makes it so that you keep one extra item when you die if it is turned on.

Hit points:
Hit points are simply how many hits are able to be taken from you before you die. If you eat your hit points (hp) will be restored some.

Training:
Mage:
I suggest getting your mage level to 13 by doing the best
strike you can, and then doing fire strikes on the lesser demon up stairs in the wizards castle (south of draynor).

Melee:
Kill chickens until about combat 10 or so. Then kill cows for awhile until you are about combat level 40. Then kill ether fortress guards (found outside the black knights fortress) or the level 17 barbarians found in the hall at the north part of the barbarian village, do this until about combat 60-65.

Then kill deadly red spiders which can be found in the varrok dungeon, do this until combat level 70 or a bit higher, then you can kill ether moss giants or lesser demons, moss giants are just next to the deadly red spiders and lesser demons are inside the volcano at karajam (look at the map to find it). You can now do this up until level 126. (This guide is for non-members.)

Range:
I suggest training range somewhere that you can hide behind something and run out to retrieve your arrows. The barbarians in the hall are good, or lesser demons for high levels (you will probably see were to hide because others will be doing it). It gets quite expensive if you use high level arrows like addy so I suggest training with iron or steel because you don’t hit much less with them.

Prayer:
Simply buy or pick up lots of bones and bury them. You can get lots of big bones (which give more exp than normal bones) from any giant (hill giant, moss giant, ice giant).

Player killing:
Player killing is done in the wilderness, player killing (or pking which is what I will refer to it as) is usually done in hope of killing a player that has good items so that you can have them and sell them for money. Often people that go pking are “pures”, this mean that they concentrate on just a few skills.

For example a strength pure will only get attack to 40 (60 if members) and then only get up strength, always keeping 1 defence (they often get prayer as well so they can do the ultimate strength prayer).

Mage pures only get up there mage level and nothing else! This mean that if they are combat level 47 or something the will have around 65 mage because the only level that contribute to there combat will be mage and hit points. Mage pures are usually dominant until they can hit 16 because that is the max hit for non members, then strength and range keep on going to hit 20+.

Some people have a mixture of all the pures, for example they could be 40 range (to wear green d hide chaps and vambs), 40 attack (to wield rune weapons), 50 strength and 50 mage. This way they can be fighting using melee and when the person tries to rune they can snare so they can move and then hit them with mage strikes while there friends hit them too (there pretty much dead if you can keep snaring them).
I hope that this article can help you get high level and make lots of Runescape Money!

What makes software games like strategy war games and free sports games is the level of competition that is included in the games. Even software games are now being looked at as a game that includes skill and talent, thus you have several competitions and tournaments for gaming, the biggest of which is the World Cyber Games. As such, competition is always a good thing when it comes to games. And when you play play online games, getting the competition that you want is easy. And not just easy, you can easily compete with other players around the world.

It’s the same as when you play arcade games, there’s always a challenger and a live opponent to fight against. The difference when you play arcade games online is that your opponents are not limited to just your area like in a local arcade. Your list of opponents online is endless; you can fight with anyone from anywhere in the world where there’s internet connection. It’s really like having your own World Cyber Games in your own home.

Not just traditional boards games, you can also compete with different board games that have just been introduced. The issue is not the game to play, any game can become an international tournament when you play online.

How do you compete? Well there are two basic ways. One way is like how arcades are, you challenge an online player in a game. That way, you can play one-on-one and try to best each other, depending on the rules of the game. This method is the most exciting as you’re fighting with a live person, which makes victory all the more satisfying compared with just beating the AI.

The other method is by just getting the highest scores. You can check the list of high scorers and beat everyone else’s scores. This method is less interactive, but not less satisfying when you see your score as number one.

And so, it’s easy to find opponents from anywhere when you play online games. The methods of competition also present you with different ways of testing your skills against other people. As such, it’s easy to have your own version of a software game Olympics when you play online.

Computer simulations are valuable training tools. They can make training you on things a lot easier because sometimes, if you do the training during the real thing, then there could be a lot at stake and mistakes could be costly or even deadly. There are all kinds of different ways to use computer simulations including for training on a job, operating a vehicle of some kind, and learning how to use a computer system at work.

As mentioned, there are a lot of different ways that computer simulations can be used. And depending on how high quality the system is, it could really prepare you for certain situations. For example, computer simulations are used a lot when training pilots how to fly. Using computer simulations for learning how to fly is not intended to replace learning on the real aircraft. Rather, it gets you acquainted with flying the real thing before you step foot in it. That way, when you board an expensive machine such as an F-16, you will be less likely to make costly mistakes. The money that is put into the flight computer simulations, therefore, is justified because those military planes can be quite expensive.

Another way to use computer simulations is to use it to help you learn how to fight. The computer simulations are enhanced by putting electrode pads on your body. You view a screen and fight with an imaginary opponent. The computer can then score you and make critiques about your form. Those are just two of the many examples where computer simulations can be used. Other uses include computer simulations for people learning how to target shoot and simulations that help you learn how to do your job better such as working in a call center or at a bank.

Computer simulations do have a purpose, but like so many things that start off as having a more noble purpose, the entertainment industry has borrowed them. Granted, a lot of the computer simulations programs are classified because of they were to be available to everybody, then valuable military secrets could end up in the wrong hands. But, the gaming industry has plenty of flight simulation games, fighting games, etc on the market. Interesting how a technology such as computer simulations that has so much value in industry, military, and government can rapidly change to something that is purely for entertainment.

Traditional Rummy (also familiar as Rummy, Regular Rummy, Straight Rummy, Basic Rummy or Standard Rummy) can well be regarded as one of the most accepted Rummy card games. Traditional Rummy demands innovative skill and excellent memory and of course is a not a simple game to adopt.

Beginners should memorize those steps and further apply them according to their prudence, and also taking into consideration the exact circumstances that they are dealing with.

The Beginners must also keep in mind that the aim of this card game is to be the first to dispose all the cards. And to add more, that while playing Traditional Rummy, the beginners should pay their proper attention in drawing the right cards, as in this card game it is mandatory to develop this skill. Drawing the right cards ultimately decides the consequence of the game.

While drawing a card at the commencement of the Traditional Rummy game, it is desirable that the beginner should select a card from the stockpile instead of the discard pile. And after the initial draw, the beginner also should concentrate properly on melding; laying off and discarding so that he can well get rid of his cards.

The basic Traditional Rummy game strategy observes that a beginner should aim to verify those cards that his opponent is holding in his hand. He must even know that what sort of runs and sets the opponent actually scheduling to build.

This is not an easy task, as in Traditional Rummy the beginner must distinctly watch the cards that the opponent is playing and should memorize the cards available in the discard pile. If he can be familiar with the opponent’s cards then he can confirm a better position in discarding those cards that at all will not help the opponent player.

On the contrary the beginner must be cautious about his own hand, as while playing Traditional Rummy, it is equally important that the opponent should not be able to confirm the beginners hand. He must play in such a way that he can deceive his opponent from knowing his hand.

In common, it always sounds healthy in discarding high valued cards in Traditional Rummy. But the beginners once again must take note that by any means the opponent player should not take advantage of those high cards.

While playing Traditional Rummy the beginners also must develop the basic knowledge to understand the strategic value of the cards. For instance, the middle cards confirm more strategically value in comparison to other low or high cards. In Traditional Rummy a beginner must come up with lot of practice, inventive skill and exceptional memory. As, in Traditional Rummy such involvements are most important

It has been 13 years since a game called Worms was released on Personal Computers. This game, developed by Team 17, became a smash hit and led to many sequels. Naughty Bits Software has developed iShoot for iPhone/ iPod and this game closely resembles the core idea of Worms. Make no mistake, this game is not a copy of Worms. Rather, the basic concept of tank warfare is common for both these games. What makes these games even more similar is that both have 2D environment that can be affected and even destroyed by the gameplay. This game has been aggressively marketed and this has led to high hopes from this $2.99 game.

What will appeal to many gamers is that iShoot has a very simple menu. Either you opt for the tutorial or you start playing the game. There are no other options. The instructions provided are sufficient to understand how the game works. A maximum of four tanks are available for manual control. All remaining tanks are controlled by AI. The AI player is not very tough to beat. Only the Extreme level AI is almost impossible to beat because of its accuracy. Otherwise, even the hard AI can be beaten in this game without breaking a sweat. This is a good thing as we all love beating the AI no matter how dumb it is.

The gameplay itself is turn-based with each player controlling their own tank. The objective of iShoot is to launch whatever weapon you choose and have that shot hit the other tank. Most weapons not only do damage to your opponent, but also destroy the terrain. That means that every hit you take will require you to adjust the angle and speed of your shot accordingly. The relative balancing of weapons makes for some nail-biting matches. You’ll often find yourself at the end against an opponent, both at very low health, trying to get that last hit to win the game.

One of the most important characteristic of this game is its weapons. Had the weapons been boring, this game would have been a disaster. Thankfully, that is not the case. Each player is allocated a fixed amount of funds to buy weapons before each round. There is a lot of choice available for the players. You can opt for nuclear bombs or machine guns or even the extremely expensive Shiva Bomb. The choice of weapons is an important tactical decision that must be made with foresight. Should you use the nuclear bomb to dump your opponent into a crater or should you preserve it for your killing blow? The developers have incorporated terrain modifying weapon as well. You can often add mounds and walls to the map using these weapons. This can be used to restrict the tank to a specific sector so that it can be destroyed at leisure. The variety of weapons and the difference in its impact adds value to the game.

Weapons apart, the maps available in this game constitute its second plus point. You can play this game on a simple hill where it is not very difficult to get the angle of the attack right. Or you could opt to play this game on Mount Rushmore where aiming accurately is the most important thing. This game would have been even better had the players been permitted to choose the map of their choice. Right now, they have no option but to play on the map assigned to them.

iShoot’s 2D graphics are average for a game like this. The tanks are small and not very detailed. The environments are well designed and often very vibrant. Perhaps the most inexcusable graphical issue is the fact that there can be periodic frame rate slowdowns. Now, it’s not like this game is heavily dependent on a solid frame rate, but the fact that the frame rate even stutters in a 2D game shows some really lazy coding on the part of the developer. Hopefully a future iteration will fix this problem.

Another disappointment is the lack of background music on iShoot. The only sounds that you get to hear on this game are those of firing and explosions. Absence of a background score is considered acceptable for a $1 game. However, a good quality back ground score is required for this game considering that this is a $3 game.

Overall, this game can safely be described as a fun game. The only drawback is its price which seems a bit high considering what it offers to the gamers. The absence of other gaming modes, music and a real menu design negates the wonderful work done by the developers as far as the weapons and maps are concerned. It is as if the developers simply ignored the menu, background music and the gaming modes. Its high price brings its rating down. If you are ready to ignore its high cost, you certainly shall have a lot of fun playing this game. This will definitely be a good addition to your gaming library.

Game Score: 7.5 / 10

The difference between standard desktop and laptop computers and gaming level computers and laptops is significant. The main area that they differ is in performance, but almost as significant for gamers is appearance or design. Gamers want their computers to be top of the line in all ways, including how they look. These differences are also quite apparent in the accessories that are available for the gaming laptops and computers.

The gaming environment demands high performance. Any edge that a gamer can have over his opponent could mean the difference between life and death (in the cyber-world of course….). Luckily for gamers companies like Logitech, Razer and also Microsoft are in tune with this and have an entire group of gaming accessories that are targeted for this unique group of users.

If you are just getting started with acquiring your gaming equipment it is essential that you match your high performance computer with the right gaming accessories. Otherwise you could be limiting the overall performance available to you. Don’t be the one out there with a standard mouse or keyboard or you could be very frustrated with your lack of success with most games today. This is especially true for gaming on line. The serious gamers have all the top accessories to enhance their play ability to the maximum.

Obviously, if you desire the higher performance of the gaming accessories there is a price to pay. But the difference in performance is worth the price – that is, if you are serious about your game play. As mentioned the gaming accessories available not only can enhance and improve your game play but there are accessories available to also just help make your laptop look slick and that you can customize to your personality.

A gaming level mouse is a great way to start adding the right accessories to your gaming system. The Logitech G9 is an excellent choice for this. You can change the grip you can also change the weight. You can customize the LEDs. Even use onboard memory to take up to 5 mouse profiles with you to the next LAN party. In every way, the G9 mouse lets you tune for the way you play. Checkout Logitech’s ID Grip for the G9 Mouse which lets you customize the look of the G9.

Another great choice for a gaming grade mouse is the Razer DeathAdder Gaming Mouse. Take on your enemies with this lightning-fast mouse that delivers pinpoint accuracy for an incredible gaming experience. It is also equipped with 5 programmable buttons, so you can customize this mouse to fit your preferences

Next, one should consider a gaming level keyboard. Again Logitech has a great product with the G15 Gaming Keyboard. The Logitech G15 keyboard keeps you informed and outfitted to win. With the Logitech-exclusive GamePanel LCD, you can easily find out what server your friends are using, or receive notification when your World of Warcraft battleground becomes available. You can also create useful macros on the fly and play them back with a single press of a G-key. The illuminated characters on the keyboard will allow you to play late into the night.

For a great gaming keyboard you should really check out the Saitek Cyborg Keyboard. You can really enhance your gaming skills with this programmable keyboard. This high-end, adjustable, gaming keyboard has customizable backlighting, programmable functions and media keys. One of the best features is the hard wearing, metal-plated key caps in key gaming areas.

Now to really enhance game play the serious gamer needs to outfit his system with a great headset and speaker system. Even though gaming grade laptops focus on high performance they do lack in the area of the audio system. This is where you need to look at the gaming headsets that are available. Many of the games today require fast and furious communication with other team members. If your team can’t communicate clearly you will be taken out quickly in today’s high action games.

Backgammon is a game that has its own complexities and challenges despite its simple rules. This is because skill, strategy, and luck all play a role in winning in backgammon. There are many sides to playing backgammon that makes it exciting and engaging; one of these is the rule of doubling the stakes in the game. Whether you’re playing for money or you’re playing for fun and points, the aspect of doubling has given the game another facet of difficulty and thrill.

Basic backgammon rules (casino games and match play)

In backgammon, the objective is simple: clear all your checkers on the board before your opponent does. Clearing is done by moving your pieces towards your end of the board. Backgammon consists of a board that has 12 triangles or points, on each side of the board. These points are numbered one to twenty-four. Each player is given a pair of dice and 15 checkers which are placed on the board in a fixed manner. Game starts with each player rolling a die, and the person who gets the higher number takes the first turn. Game progresses as the pieces are moved closer toward the player’s area of the board until all the pieces can be cleared-off the board.

Backgammon setup for casino games

The casino game version of backgammon features more excitement as you’re playing for cash, and the rules for casino games encourage fast play and betting action. This is due to the use of the doubling cube. The doubling cube is a die that has the numbers 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 on its sides. The doubling cube means that you can double the current stakes at play in a game. Stakes are usually the cash bet on a game. Doubling can be done by anyone at any time of play; once a double has been raised, the opponent is forced to accept or reject the offer. Once a double is rejected, the opponent automatically loses the match, but not double the stakes. If the double is accepted, the match continues with doubled stakes, and the power to offer another double is transferred to the opponent. There is no limit to the doubles that can be offered, although some limits can be agreed on beforehand.

Backgammon doubling strategy for casino games

In simple terms, winning a double depends on how well your chances are of winning the game. Whether you offer, accept, or reject a double is determined by the current board situation and your chances of winning. But don’t forget that even if you have pretty good chances of winning, that doesn’t ensure you winning the double, since backgammon still has the element of chance—the next roll of the dice can easily make or break your winning situation. Another thing to note is that if the game situation is obviously lopsided, your offer of a double will just be rejected. Nobody would accept a losing proposition, right? Another question is, when do you do the offer? Should you take the initiative? Another strategy is bluffing; you can offer the double if you have the slight advantage, or if you have nothing to lose. There is a strategy where you gamble everything on your skill and luck, and that is by offering the double early. Just like a card game, victory depends on how well you handle the checkers and luck of the roll. There really isn’t a foolproof strategy in doubling; but it helps a lot if you’re aware of the essential things involved in it. As it is with most betting games, offering and accepting a double depends on foresight, timing and your skill at the game.

Olaf Thorson is a person who loves playing casino game, not the least of those is Backgammon.

Bakugan may seem quite difficult to play and there are some neat tips to learn – but the basics of play are quite easy.

Here’s how to play Bakugan…

Marbles And Cards

There are two pieces to the game. The bakugan battle brawlers themselves, and playing cards. The brawlers are small marbles that pop open to reveal the Bakugan inside and it’s G-Power. Cards played can boost your G-Power or decrease the G-Power of your opponent. The highest power wins the battle.

Setting Up a Bakugan Game

Each player needs 3 battle brawlers, 3 Gate cards and 3 Ability cards (if you buy bakugan starter packs you get all you need). Choosing which ones to use is important, and can make the difference between winning and losing. The aim is to win Gate cards.

Players sit about one metre apart from each other on a smooth flat surface. This area is now the playing ‘Field’.

All Bakugan start closed (Sphere Mode) and battle cards are kept face down.

When ready, the players say “Field – Open”.

Starting The Game

Each players puts down a Gate card and says “Gate Card – Set”. Then each player goes in turn, the youngest battler first, choosing and rolling a Bakugan towards the Gate cards on the field.

After Rolling

If the Bakugan hits a Gate card it will pop open automatically. If no other Bakugan are on that the Gate, the other player takes their turn. If the next player already has a Bakugan on that card, a Battle starts.

Let Battle Begin

Firstly read each Bakugans G-Power rating. Then turn over the Gate card and do as it says.

Then each player can play an Ability card, if they wish. This could help boost your power or decrease your opponents. The cards tell you what to do and when you can use them. After use, they go in your used pile.

Now you add any G-Power boost from the Gate card, simply by matching the colour of your Bakugan to the symbol on the card.

The player who now has the highest G-Power wins the battle, and puts that Gate card in their used pile. All Gate cards have an HSP number printed on them (Holo Sector Points) – this is how many points you win for the battle.

Winning The Battle

The game is over when all cards or Bakugans are used up. Your remaining Bakugan and any captured ones are worth 100 points. You add these points to the points on the Gate cards you won. The player with the most points wins. Don’t worry, captured Bakugan are given back. Unless you played for keeps! If you need more here’s where you can find bakugan for sale.

You can see a brief movie of how to play here:-

Terry and his kids love playing Bakugan. There are pretty much daily Bakugan Battles at our house – and dad always wins… I wish. It’s an easy game to get started with, you just buy one of the Bakugan starter packs and you’re away. Start with my site for more Bakugan stuff.

Stamina is the primary attribute for the World Of Warcraft Warlock. Here’s why:

1) Agility grants an enhanced chance for critical hits in melee. What good is that going to do a spellcaster? It has nothing to do with your spells chance to crit.

2) Intelligence increases your chance to get critical hits with spells. DoT’s have no critical hit capability. (Well, Immolate can crit with its initial blast.)

Strength is of no use, if the World of Warcraft Warlock has to rely on melee, then he’s doomed. The Wow Warlock’s primary source of damage is DoT spells, so it just doesn’t make sense to put a high investment into INT. Spirit may seem useful because it increases your manna regen rate. However, since a World Of Warcraft warlock has the ability to convert Health into Manna, it really makes sense to increase Stamina.

Warlock Weapons

Focus on building your dagger skill. Equip a wand in your off hand, and keep an eye out to purchase or loot ever-better wands. Wands are a great back up when your mana is low. They also fire off faster than most Warlock spells.

Wow Warlock Talents

For leveling and groups, avoid Demonology. It takes forever to kill something. In the arena Demonology is great. With the correct spec and gear, a Demonology Warlock can take forever to kill.

The Destruction spec is great for soloing and groups. Destro locks do tons of damage and hit lots of crits. In top level PVP, Destro is the worst spec for a Warlock. Your critical attacks are so blunted in PVP that you just won’t do enough damage.

Affliction is a great all-around build. It works well for PVP and PVE.

Drain Mana is useful in PVP, especially when combined with Fear. You can fear your opponent, and drain his mana while he runs crazily around. This is a great way to prevent a Paladin from bubbling and healing. Improved Corruption on the Affliction tree to instant cast is also mandatory.

Drain Life is mandatory in PVP. When you have an opponent dotted and feared, a Shadow Bolt may break fear. Drain Life will continue to damage your opponent, will heal you, and has less chance to break fear.

“Every chess master was once a beginner.” (Irving Chernev, 1900-81)

In chess, there are three main stages to the game – the opening, middlegame, and endgame – with each requiring a different approach. Understanding the basics of each will help in formulating tactics, combinations, and overall strategy. All of it begins with a first move, and all of it is done to achieve checkmate.

Opening
With the chessboard substituting for a battlefield, each player begins with the same amount of forces and spatial control. During the opening, players set up their pieces for the “battle” ahead. This is when you’re able to develop your chess pieces, moving them into positions of strength.

With eight pawns lining the frontline to begin the game, it’s necessary to swiftly break them out, so that other pieces can be activated. You’ll want to develop a strong pawn structure, but not at the expense of your major and minor pieces. Note that a piece that languishes behind while others develop will be of even less use once the middlegame begins.

Thus, it’s important during the opening to develop pieces quickly. Keep in mind though that for every piece you move, your opponent moves one as well. You’ll want to develop your forces as efficiently as possible, but also respond to what is happening on the opposite side of the board.

Middlegame
Once the board has developed and pieces are in a position to attack (and defend), the middlegame takes over. During this part of the game, the approach transitions from “develop” to “attack.” It’s during the middlegame that tactics and combinations are put to use. Pieces are eliminated on both sides and the board begins to clear up. Spatial control grows in importance as well, with both sides wanting to occupy the center. In chess, the four central squares (d4-5, e4-5) are the most powerful.

As for how to best handle the middlegame, this is different for each individual player. Theories abound for both the opening and endgame, but for the middlegame, it more depends on player experience. Only through experience can you better recognize situations and thereby, formulate a plan that will work best for you.

The middlegame is where most of the action takes place, where the “battle” is waged. During this part of the game, players attempt to weaken their opponent’s position while consolidating their own. This is reflected in the pieces that remain on the board for each side, as well as the position of said pieces once the endgame begins.

Endgame
With a reduced number of pieces to work with, players must now transition their approach to “strategy.” How to achieve checkmate with the pieces that remain? At this stage of the game, the king typically breaks out to become an active participant on the board. Whether he moves to avoid “check” or to defend a position, such as an eighth rank from a pawn, the king sees more movement during endgame than at any other point of the match.

Also during endgame, the humble pawn grows in importance. With fewer obstacles in its way, movement becomes easier and a march towards a queening square becomes very real. If a “passed pawn” can be created, the entire dynamic of the board can change. For this reason, attention must be paid to the remaining pawns; and in many instances, the endgame can become a standoff between king and pawn.

Checkmate
For each stage of the game, it’s a matter of remaining in the moment. There is no buzzer that sounds to signal the approach of the middle- or endgame. Stages in chess happen organically and it’s up to each player to be ready once the stage shifts and a new approach is needed. If caught off guard, checkmate could be upon you in a flash.

As Grandmaster Savielly Tartakower (1887-1956) once said, “The winner of the game is the player who makes the next-to-last mistake.”
