The main technology used in today’s electronic scales is the strain gauge load cell. These load cells consist of a piece of metal shaped specifically so that it bends very slightly and in a very calculated way when force, such of the weight of an object, acts on it. Connected to this piece of metal are several strain gauges, resistors made of foil. These strain gauges bend when the load cell bends, and the resistance of the strain gauges increases proportional to the amount of weight that is placed on the load cell. An electrical signal that is output from the strain gauge gets converted into a digital signal which is processed by the scale before the weight is displayed to the user.
When strain gauge load cells became the norm in the industrial scale industry in the late 1970s and early 1980s, American companies dominated the electronic weighing scale market. Over time, the manufacturing of load cells, for the use of American scale manufacturer, largely moved to Asia, first as American companies opened up plants in Asia and then as Asian companies started entering the industry. More recently, Asian companies are not only producing load cells but are also manufacturing the electronic scales themselves.
Some scale manufacturing has remained in the USA. Even near New York City, some scale manufacturers, such as Arlyn Scales, still thrive. These scale companies have succeeded in filling certain market niches that are not filled by international companies.
By manufacturing their scales in the United States, local industrial scale companies make it easier to create customized weighing products. Another technology that has been developed by New York-based Arlyn Scales is Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology. In many cases, it is necessary to use a very high-precision scale for the most accurate weighing measurement. In the past, scales with a technology called “force motor,†or force-resistant scales, have been used for this purpose. The market for these scales is dominated by European and Japanese firms, and industrial scales with this technology are very expensive. SAW scales have proven to be a better alternative to the “force motor†technology. Besides being locally manufactured, these industrial scales, which have twenty times higher resolution than ordinary strain gauge scales, are cheaper than force resistant scale. They can be used to weigh up to 500 pounds in ultra-precision bench scales or they can be included in many different types of custom applications.

Each month when you receive your statement, the minimum amount you have to pay will be clearly shown, and many people choose to have this amount repaid automatically through their banks. This makes it easy to keep your account up to date, and gives the illusion that you’re keeping on top of your card balance.
The problem lies in the size of the repayment you’re making. In the early days of plastic, the minimum repayment level was generally around 5% of the balance, but over the years this has drifted inexorably downwards with 2.5% to 3% being the norm nowadays, with some cards going as low as 2%.
However, that doesnt hold good for everyone. Low interest credit cards are good and should surely be on your list, but APR is not the only thing to look for.Surely a lower repayment amount is attractive, as your credit will cost you less each month, putting less pressure on your budget? This is true to an extent, but the problem lies in the long term. To get an idea of how bad an idea only paying the minimum is, we need to look a bit more closely at your credit card statement.
As well as showing the familiar annual interest rate, or APR, your card statement will also show the monthly rate of interest charged on your balance. A typical card might show a rate of around 1.6% a month. In simple terms, this means that each month you will be charged 1.6% of your balance in interest. Compare this to a 2% repayment, and you’ll see that over three quarters of everything you pay is swallowed up in interest charges, leaving your original debt virtually untouched.
This situation is bad enough, but it gets worse when you consider that the interest rates charged on other ways of using your cards such as instant cash or overseas use can be much higher. Monthly rates for withdrawing cash, for example, can be nearly as high as the minimum repayment percentage. If you withdraw a significant amount of cash within a month, it’s quite possible that the whole of your repayment can go towards interest, with your debt level not reduced at all.
That means, people who are not sure about being able to pay the full amount, every time, should surely look for low interest credit cards. A low interest credit card helps in reducing your total outgo by curtailing the interest you pay on your balance. So, low interest credit cards help in slowing down the rate at which your credit card debt builds up. Thus low interest credit cards are surely important for a particular group of people, as stated above.
The best way is to set up automatic payment of the minimum, so that you’ll be sure that every month you’ll at least be staying within the terms of your credit agreement and not risking damage to your credit rating. If you are one of the bigger stacks then you can sit back and let the other players fight amongst themselves. It would be foolish to gamble with hands such as AK against another big stack when there are 2 or 3 players with stacks smaller than your and there will be times when it is correct to even fold hands such as AA, KK QQ etc simply because you need not get involved. If you can understand why AA should in some cases be folded then I would guess that playing these double or nothing sngs could be very profitable for you.

Do not use splash pages

The argument was that if the page loaded quickly, impatient visitors would be more likely to stick around. That may have been so in the past, but things have moved on since then.

Research as shown there are only a finite number of times a prospect is prepared to click links on your website – particularly if it’s a sales website – and that number is getting lower all the time. That extra click from your splash page to your main page, could mean the difference between a prospect clicking on the “buy now” or “go to checkout” link, or getting frustrated and clicking away.
It’s best to give visitors the value of your site up front without the splash page. If you have a long sales letter, try using CSS style sheets to make the page load faster.
