Pests are living organisms that occurs where they are not wanted or that cause damage to crops or humans or other animals. Pests live where they are not wanted or cause harm to crops, people or animals. Pesticides can help get rid of them. Many of us think that pesticides as insect killers, they include chemicals to control weeds, rodents, mildew, germs and more. Many household products contain pesticides. Pesticides can protect our health by killing germs, animals or plants that could harm us. However, most pesticides can be harmful to people or pets. Pesticide drift occurs when pesticides suspended in the air as particles are carried by wind to other areas, potentially contaminating them. ANTS:-
Ants have always been a problem in the house especially in the kitchen. So? I went searching on Google to find myself the best possible solution for this pest without spend too much money. Here’s what I found on thegreenghost website, it looks pretty amazing considering that you can use household materials for controlling ant problem.
These ideas are a small bottle with soap solution in the house which you can spray. Cut cucumber in small pieces and put in kitchen or point of entry of ants. Ants are natural aversion to cucumber. Bitter cucumbers work best. A few tea bags of mint tea put near areas where the ants seem most active. Dry, crushed mint leaves or cloves also work as ant deterrents. Light also disturb them so you can also put low voltage bulb in that area where ants are most active. The cracks where ants come there you can also put small pieces of garlic.
Cockroaches’:-

Boric acid is toxic by mouth. Soap solution in the house you can spray. In an empty one pound coffee can, place 1 or 2 pieces of bread which have been soaked thoroughly with beer. Place in areas known to have roach infestations. You can also Leave bay leaves, cucumber slices or garlic in the affected area as deterrents.

These ideas are first of all remove standing water sources. Change birdbaths, wading pools and pet’s water bowl twice a week. Remove yard items that collect water. An effective natural bug repellent, mix one part garlic juice with 5 parts water in a small spray bottle. Shake well before using. Spray lightly on exposed body parts for an effective repellent lasting up to 5 – 6 hours. Strips of cotton cloth can also be dipped in this mixture and hung in areas, such as patios, as a localized deterrent. The leaves, seeds and seed oil of the Neem tree contain sallanin, a compound which has effective mosquito repelling properties. Neem oil is a natural product and is safe to use. Planting marigolds around your yard works as a natural bug repellent because the flowers give off a fragrance bugs and flying insects do not like.
Flies:-
Flies are mostly come in the hot. To remove these flies from your house you can apply these ides.
You can use mint as a fly repellent. Small sachets of crushed mint can be placed around the home to discourage flies. Bay leaves, cloves wrapped in small cheesecloth squares can be hung by open windows or doors. You can also put a small, open container of sweet basil and clover near pet food or any open food in the house.
Silverfish
Silverfish prefer damp, warm conditions such as those found around kitchen and bathroom plumbing. Start by vacuuming the area to remove food particles and insect eggs. Silverfish can be easily trapped in small glass containers. Wrap the outside with tape so they can climb up and fall in. They will be trapped inside because they cannot climb smooth surfaces. Drown them in soapy water. The best preventive control is to remedy the damp conditions.

Environmental science encompasses issues such as climate change, conservation, biodiversity, water quality, groundwater contamination, soil contamination, and use of natural resources, waste management, sustainable development, disaster reduction, air pollution, and noise pollution.
Geosciences include environmental geology, environmental soil science, volcanic phenomena and evolution of the Earth’s crust. In some classification systems it can also embrace hydrology including oceanography.

Mining is destructive to the environment as trees and vegetation are cleared and burned for mining. Natural minerals and metals are stripped from the soil. In fact mining is one of the causes for deforestation. When environment is drastically affected, naturally the people will be affected.

Chemicals used during mining process causes pollution to the environment, animals, and people.The chemicals such as cyanide, mercury, or methyl mercury used to amalgamate the metals and minerals extracted by mining are discharged into rivers, streams, bays, and oceans, thus contaminating the water bodies and the aquatic organisms such as fish living within the water bodies. People who consume such contaminated aquatic organisms are prone to serious health hazards. The contaminated water cannot be used for bathing, drinking, cooking, or washing clothes, thus creating water scarcity problem for people living nearby.
The toxic waste from mine tailings flow into either an abandoned mining pit or adjacent forest in the case of land dredging and pollute the river in the case of river dredging. The people who are exposed to the toxic waste from the tailings suffer health problems. They may suffer from skin rashes, headaches, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Some mining involves the unintentional dispersal of heavy metals, such as lead, into the atmosphere. This can have serious health effects such as mental retardation in children. Asbestos dispersed into the environment during asbestos mining is life threatening for local residents and workers.
People living near mining areas or mining villages are very much disturbed and affected by the impact of mining. Theft, drugs/alcohol, prostitution, rape, cultural degradation and sexual abuse are unfortunately some of the worst problems of people living in mining areas. The poor people who face the health problems of mining cannot afford for a medical treatment, or the people who live in a remote village where a doctor is not accessible remain untreated for their illness.
The mining operators and their families may also face problems. The miners also have life risks when they are working in the mine. The family of small scale miners may suffer from financial and protection problems as the miners leave their family in search of work.
The effect of each proposed mining process on the environmental should be analyzed before granting permission to proceed mining. For example, the mining and use of asbestos are banned in most parts of the world life as asbestos dispersed into the environment is life threatening for people for several years.
Thus deforestation, mineral/metal depletion and chemical pollution due to mining can have unfavorable impact on the environment, aquatic habitats, people, animals, and of course the mining operators . Mining operators must be aware of the impacts of their mining operations, adopt self safety measures and ensure minimum risk to the environment and people.

When realizing the term data acquisition (DAC) it’s important to first know what is being acquisitioned: real world data. And real world data translates directly into the life sciences.
Life science, or biology, is a discipline of science that has, for hundreds of years, formed opinions of scientists, doctors, and thinkers alike. Theories and medications have been created with the study of life science, just as crimes have been solved, and organisms understood. The basic way living organisms interact with one another and their surroundings, how these organisms are structured, how they grow, what their origin may be, and their general evolution, is more or less what the term ‘life science’ encapsulates.
Real world data gets manipulated by a computer, where its signals and waveforms are processed, extracting critical information and storing it digitally in a computer processed machine. The data gets measured by components of data acquisition systems where sensors convert measurements and electrical signals before a computer manipulates the data and its signals and waveforms are processed. Critical information is then obtained and stored digitally in a computer processor, completing the first and second steps of the data acquisition process.
After life science has been converted to wavelength data, it is recorded by a data logger. Data logging is an electronic device that collects data over time, or in a specific radius, and is collected by one of three means, which include: built in instruments and sensors, or external instruments and sensors. After said data is collected, manipulated, and transformed, useful information is highlighted to suggest different types of scientific conclusions.
This process, seemingly lengthy, has allowed many growths in scientific understanding and continues on a number of levels to produce further understanding of organisms, and their relationship to the world at large.

Introduction
If you talk to the students in the years ahead of you in college most of them will tell you that biochemistry is a difficult subject. It’s not !
Biochemistry studies the chemical reactions that occur in cells. Life, at the molecular level (and therefore biochemistry and molecular biology), is about forming chemical bonds. The things that living organisms do, such as grow and make “machines” which allow them to move, generate electrical impulses and perform other functions, all have one thing in common at the molecular level. They all involved atoms and/or small molecules being joined together by chemical bonds. When a house is being built bricks are “joined” together with cement. When structural components of cells and cell “machines” are being built the molecules that make up these structures are “joined” together by chemical bonds.
So, much of biochemistry involves studying the processes of forming chemical bonds between the molecules that make up the cells. For example, amino acid molecules are joined together by chemical bonds to make proteins which are the most important structural components of cells. Nucleotide molecules are joined together by chemical bonds to form DNA which is the stuff that the genes are made of.
In order to form chemical bonds energy is required. In this book we will look at the biochemistry of where this energy comes from. Now, it does not take a genius to work out that if it takes energy to form a chemical bond then a potentially good source of this energy is to break a different chemical bond. This is exactly how cells get the energy they need to form the chemical bonds between amino acids to form proteins, between nucleotides to form DNA and so on. The chemical bonds in certain molecules are sacrificed and the energy released when these bonds are broken is used to form other chemical bonds.
So, why does biochemistry seem so difficult? Unfortunately, the processes of forming or breaking chemical bonds usually occurs in a series of steps rather than in one single step. Furthermore, many of these reaction pathways are interlinked with each other. This all makes it difficult to break the subject of biochemistry down into discreet, individual sections that are easy to study and learn. Even when you do break the metabolic pathways down into manageable sizes you never get a full understanding of what is going on until you can see how the different pathways interact with each other. It is a bit like a jigsaw. You can only deal with one piece at a time but each piece in isolation does not make much of a picture.
Unfortunately, there does not seem to be an easy answer to this problem. Please, just carry on studying all the different pathways and structures individually. Don’t get discouraged when you find it difficult to see the overall picture. When you have studied all the pieces (and there are not that many of them really!) you will eventually find that you will be able to fit them together to form the great picture that is the closest thing we have to understanding the meaning of life.
Whenever you get really confused as you plough through those enormous biochemistry textbooks or lost as you try and keep up with your biochemistry lectures ask yourself “What chemical bond is being formed or broken”? and you will find it much easier to follow what is going on.
I wish you an interesting time in your journey to understand what is known about how life works and of course good fortune in the exams you must pass to allow you to go on and pursue whatever career path you have set out on.
