You’re in the middle of a Grand Theft Auto game and suddenly your screen locks up. You notice three lights flashing red on your Xbox’s console. You switch the power off and on a few times and you realize the problem isn’t going to disappear on its own.
You’ve got a few choices. You can send your Xbox back to Microsoft and get it fixed for free if your warranty hasn’t expired. If you don’t have a valid warranty anymore, you have to pay Microsoft up to $150 plus shipping and handling to do the job.
You can also do the repair job yourself but should you? The answer depends on various considerations:
1.) Do you have a valid warranty and do you want to take advantage of it?
This is most definitely an important consideration. It’s nice to let the experts handle the problem and receive your Xbox back in perfect working order.
But many people have had to wait several weeks before receiving their console only to have the ring of death return after a few weeks. You may get a refurbished console that initially belonged to another person! You don’t know what sort of abuse that machine has seen.
2.) Do you have any problems about working with your hands?
It’s very common for people to have never changed a flat tire on their bicycle as a kid. If you have a familiarity with basic tools such as a knife, screw driver, socket wrench, etc. Then you’re qualified to do a self repair.
If you’ve never picked up and used these basic tools, then you should not fix your Xbox yourself. When doing your own repair you should take it slow and careful.
3.) How good is your source of repair information?
How do you know for certain that the kid on Youtube knows what he’s doing? Remember he’s a kid who messes with the console. Is there a follow up video about how long his “fix” lasted?
It often saves time and money to purchase a guide that supplies reliable information. The business man supplying the guide is held accountable to his customers. The Youtube kid doesn’t answer to anyone.
With the right guide you can have your Xbox 360 up and running within a couple of hours. Like repairing your bike, a little console repair experience will go a long way.
Try these simple red ring of death fix suggestions before spending time or money on Xbox repair. These Xbox 360 troubleshooting tips are free.

In a press conference held in LA, Microsoft and Infinity Ward have revealed a new Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 special edition. This console is going to be packaged with some big space! It has been revealed that it will come with a 250GB HDD and two standard Xbox 360 Elite controllers (which look really cool), possibly with a touch of the new game’s title somewhere on them although this has not been confirmed.
Just by the power button it has the distinctive logo of the ‘2’ printed right next to it, with a famous quotation placed under the disc tray – “HIGH SPEED – LOW DRAG” This quotation is used by soldiers who are extraordinarily proficient with his job or one who is extraordinarily the opposite. (If you have played Red Alert 2 you will recognise this quote!) This is brilliantly tagged to relate to the new anticipated game set to come out later this year.
Of course, this is not the only special edition console we have seen since the 360; we have had over the years the recently released Red Xbox 360, The Simpsons, Grand Theft Auto 4, The Dark Knight and how could we forget Halo 3. All of these consoles are definitely worth buying simply because they look so original. But the MW2 console not only looks pretty damn slick, but it also has 250GB Hard disk drive! This has never been done before on any of the limited edition Xbox’s, so for it to be done for this release truly emphasises how big this game will be. I for one will be making my purchase of this X-box skin in ship, shape and Bristol fashion.
The Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Edition is due to be released alongside the game itself – November 11th 2009.

When it comes to modern day video gaming, the sky is the limit. Over the years video games have evolved from basic two dimensional actions like that seen in classics like Pong to full three dimensional worlds that are fully explore able by the player. With such advancements, realism has also improved to such a point that at times it can be hard to tell the difference between a real or rendered image.
The one thing that has remained a constant in the world of video games is the use of codes and cheats and the inclusion of Easter eggs. Below you will find more information on what cheat codes actually are.
A cheat code is best defined as a button combination or password which can be entered in order to trigger an event or effect within the game. Often you will find that cheat codes perform simple things such as adding ammunition to a weapon, giving a particular item, making one invincible or possibly even changing a character completely.
On the other hand, an Easter egg is a surprise that may be hidden somewhere within the game. The origins of the first Easter egg are unknown, however developers continue add them in to their games. A classic game series for Easter eggs is the Grand Theft Auto series where Easter eggs are hidden in every little corner of the games.
Another way to cheat can involve the use of a cheat device rather than a code that is entered through the keyboard or controller. A cheat device is a piece of hardware or software designed for the specific purpose of cheating. Through the use of such devices, a player is able to enter codes or actually slightly modify the contents of a game. The most common cheat devices are the Game Shark, Action Replay and Code Breaker (also known as the Xploder).
Cheat codes are generally safe to use and there are millions of gamers around the world who actively use cheat codes in their everyday gaming. Cheat codes will not hurt your game system or game. Manually entering a cheat code while playing simply activates a dormant section of code in the game programming so that the desired effect can be achieved (unlimited ammo, invisibility, etc.).
Although it is rare that you hear horror stories of cheat codes messing up some poor sap’s gaming system, it can happen when using downloaded files. With downloaded files, only the person who created the extra code knows exactly what is does. At times such files can do some serious damage, but it is incredibly rare.
At times, the use of codes can make your game become unstable when you enter a code or add a patch to the game. One common effect is the loss of the ability to save your progress. Also, your game may simply crash. Most cheat pages will warn you if the code has a habit of causing such side effects.
Almost every video game system is capable of using cheat codes in one way or another.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is very large game with an amazing amount of detail for its size. Criticized by many around the world for its violent content and ability to commit almost any crime, GTA: San Andreas contains many interesting secrets not found by the average player. Below you can find a rundown of some of the secrets found within the game.
Chilliad Challenge – Easy Win
One of the hardest challenges in the game is the downhill pushbike races of Mount Chilliad. Normally, attacking your opponents will result in instant disqualification, however, if you attack your opponents with grenades, the game won’t mind. By doing this it is possible to eliminate all competition and take your time for an easy win.
No Wanted Stars when Blowing Up Vehicles
If you are in a helicopter that is equipped with a chain gun, it is possible to blow up any civilian vehicle without attracting police attention. This can be done even if the cops are right behind the vehicle you blow up. As long as you don’t hit any pedestrians or cop cars with a stray bullet, you will not receive any police attention.
Get Out of Debt Quick
If you have gotten yourself into debt with the casinos, no matter how far, it is possible to get your money counter back to zero very quickly. The trick to this is to find a unique jump that you have not yet completed. Simply complete the jump and you will be rewarded for it. This will cause your money counter to reset to all zeroes and you can then work on getting more money.
Infinite Money
This is a simple trick that can be done form the very start. By paying a visit to Inside Track Betting and betting on the horse races you can become a millionaire before the first mission. To do this, only bet on the horse with the worst odds with no more than ten percent of your total money. Continue doing this every race and soon enough you will win a race or two and notice a substantial increase in your money. Odds of 12/1 will pay-out $12,000 from only a $1,000 investment. This can be repeated at any stage of the game to get more money.
Have Your Picture Taken
In order to have your picture taken you will need a camera and the ability to recruit one of your homies. Once you have recruited a homie, equip the camera and walk up to your gang member. A message should appear on screen and if you press L1 you will be able to take a picture of yourself. A very nice little feature of the game.
Upgrade Weapon Skills
The easiest way to achieve hitman level with any weapon is to constantly shoot the same tyre of a vehicle. You will receive one weapon skill point for every bullet fired in to the tyre, no matter how long you shoot the same tyre. One thousand bullets is all you will need to reach hitman status with any weapon.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has many secrets contained within its game world and to explore each and every one would take quite some time. Try out these secrets and see if you can discover more.

There’s a lot of controversy surrounding shooting games – Duke Nukem was blamed for a shoot out in a cinema while countless others have been accused of poisoning the minds of youths and making them more likely to participate in gun crime. Despite the controversy however, they remain one of the most popular genres with only driving games and fighting games coming anywhere near to toppling them. Even those games that are mostly focused on exploration (such as Tomb Raider) or theft (such as Grand Theft Auto) often still have elements of shooting in them.
So what is it that makes them so appealing to young folk? Well really, it’s not at all a new phenomenon and it can be found just as readily in other genres. Take films – the action genre is by far the most popular with all the big budget summer blockbusters falling into that category. Almost every single one of these films involves guns and could be described as ’shooting films’ and really computer games are no different.
The purpose of a computer game, like most other entertainment, is escapism. People who play computer games want to feel cool and have adventurous lives. They want to mimic their superhero idols, be space heroes from the future, try being a cop in a dangerous part of town, or being on the other side of the law… they want to be pirates, soldiers, and rebels without a cause. In short, it’s much more exciting to walk casually out of an explosion with a shotgun over your shoulder than it is to be a school teacher or learn knitting patterns. And why is that? Because you can do those latter things in real life! If the games want to stay realistic then they need to involve guns. The other reason that’s more exciting obviously is the higher stakes – if it’s a matter of life or death then that’s more exciting than winning a gold or silver medal… and guns certainly facilitate this. In short shooting games enable a player to feel ‘cool’, feel as though they’re taking part in an action film, feel a rush of adrenaline, and experience something they’ve never experienced before while remaining fairly realistic.
Shooting games also have a number of other advantages on top of their escapist appeal. On top of the cool factor, shooting a gun also requires fast reflexes and good special awareness to aim. These are two elements that lend themselves very well to the gaming experience and add an element of skill and challenge. This is also far easier to mimic realistically than a fighting game as the controller can make a great replacement for a firearm but not really the entire human body. When you shoot a gun you’re pulling a trigger, and when you’re using a controller you’re pulling a trigger or pressing a button – the translation makes good sense. While shooting games involve skill, they also involve tactics and quick thinking – shooting an explosive barrel to take out an opponent, or smoking them out with a grenade while you get cover behind a nearby wall. This mixture of tactics and skill is something that isn’t really found in other game genres (football or point and click games are tactical while driving or fighting games are more skill). This not only makes them a fun challenge for the user but also means that they’re developing those skills – improving hand eye coordination and the ability to make quick decisions.
If you enjoy shooting games why not hop over and play some great games. Author’s site also has a great collection of zombie games.

Though the only game that you know might be just Pacman and Donkey Kong, it’s not too late to increase the number of game titles that you know. But we don’t mean that you need to buy all the game titles that you see in the store. Nor does it mean tha you need to buy a new game console or upgrade your PC’s hardware just to play all the games. They say that the period of the little guy is over. As video games become increasingly important, surpassing things like movies, and selling a huge number of games with each new huge event, the industry has been inching ever closer to a kind of Hollywood mindset.
Grand Theft Auto Takes a Long Time to Make
To recreate the stunning experiences and 40 hours worth of incredible gameplay inside a game like the latest GTA entry, squads of legions of developers are necessary. Budgets are huge, and profits are expected to be the same. While games like GTAIV are great, they take a distortedly big part of the market, just like Hollywood blockbusters do, and they normally skew the rest of the industry in strange directions.
Films are a helpful comparison here, because it is essentially the same thing: a good film is a memorable movie, regardless of budget, and the same is applicable for the gaming industry. There are thousands of small top games out there that fundamentally don’t have a way into the proper distribution methods. And how many bad films or crummy videogames—from major publishers—have you seen or bought recently?
Why Films and Videogames are Similar
One of the main problems with making entertainment on the Hollywood scale is that a proper idea of good, fun gameplay gets obscured under all the other things that have to go into a big title—just like the narrative of a big event film can often be hidden beneath layers of other concerns. With a small team of developers, this doesn’t happen—it’s all about the game alone, the richness of the experience—whether or not it’s enjoyable to play, well made, and gives its users a reason to come back is truly all that means anything.
The fact is that just because it’s heavily hyped up in the store doesn’t signify it’s any good. And so the question becomes: how do we find those small games, those medium developers working on quality, classic titles that aren’t getting advertised on the internet or continuously reviewed?
Who Distributes Indie Games on the Internet?
Looking online is still the best solution. You can find publishers selling independent games that are created on real values: like good gameplay that keeps you coming back for more. Not facing the huge budgets, licensed movie properties, and big development teams that the big companies have, unique developers are releasing video games that don’t have the privilege of exciting you through excessive visuals alone: they need to be fun to play above all else.
Although some big publishers have come to this realization, and have started encouraging small developers to go wild with their crazy dreams, most of the best, small, enjoyable games are being released by companies you’ve never seen before.
Don’t Throw Away that Brick-and-Mortar Store Just Yet
While everyone chatters of new ways of sending out material, the ones that are already established are still totally relevant: many of the best, most under-appreciated indie movies can still be found at your video store, and many of the most fun, indie videogames can be located online, coming to you at very low prices—you get all the pluses of a box, a manual, something tangible in your hands, but you aren’t shelling out insane prices.
Next time you’re looking for a quality video game, don’t just look for the big names. Remember that the big conglomerates churn out their fair share of high-priced junk, and that medium-sized developer you’ve never heard of might have just published your next all-time favorite videogame.

Article Source: Why Indie Games are The Best
They say that the period of the smaller game publisher is no more. As video games become a more gigantic market every year, overtaking things like music, and selling an unbelievable amount of units with each new huge event, the industry has fallen prey to a variety of Hollywood mindset.
Grand Theft Auto Takes a Long Time to Make
To create again the incredible experiences and 30+ hours worth of incredible gameplay inside a game like Grand Theft Auto 4, squads of legions of game developers are obligatory. Budgets are huge, and profits are expected to be big, too. While games like this are indeed spectacular, they take up a strangely gigantic amount of the market, in the same way Hollywood spectacles do, and they tend to shift the rest of the industry in unexpected ways.
Films are a good think to look at here, because it comes down to the same thing: a great movie is a top movie, quite separate from budget, and the same works for the gaming industry. There are tonnes of little top games out there that simply don’t have a way into the top distribution channels. And how many bad films or useless videogames from major publishers you have seen or bought in the last several years?
Hollywood Models Can’t Always Apply to Videogames
One of the principal issues with making videogames on the blockbuster model is that a useful concept of good, fun gameplay is lost under all the other obligations that have to go into a major property—just like the narrative of a big event film can often be obscured beneath layers of spectacle. With a small development group, this doesn’t happen as it’s all about the game itself, the level of the play and whether or not it’s great to play, well made, and gives you a reason to come back is really all that matters.
The point is that just because it’s extensively hyped up in the store doesn’t mean it’s great. And so the issue is: how do we discover those little games, those mid-sized publishers creating great, tried-and-true titles that aren’t getting advertised on the internet or continuously chattered about?
Can Indie Games be Found Online?
Looking online is still the top option. You can find publishers selling great games that are built on real foundations: like good gameplay that keeps you coming back for more. Lacking the gigantic amounts of money, official trademarks, and big development teams that the conglomerates use, independent publishers are coding games that don’t have the luxury of exciting you through excessive visuals alone: they need to be enjoyable to play above anything else.
Although a select few big publishers have seen the light, and have started fostering small development teams to go crazy with their wildest notions, most of the top, small, enjoyable games are being released by companies you’ve never seen before.
Classic Distribution Still Works
While the talk is of new ways of sending out material, the ones that are already set-up are still completely relevant: many of the best, most under-appreciated small films can still be found sitting at your neighborhood DVD shop, and many of the most amazing, independent games can be tracked down online, coming to you at amazingly low prices and you get all the pluses of a box, a set of instructions, something tangible to grasp, but you aren’t shelling out insane prices.
Next time you’re hunting down a memorable game experience, don’t just go to the big names. Remember that big companies put out their fair share of high-concept crap, and that indie designer you’ve never heard of might have just developed your next top game.

The protagonist of the game is a war veteran named Niko Bellic. Since his country is not specified, what we know about him is that he came from some country in Eastern Europe.
When this man comes to America in quest for the American Dream, he gets caught up in seedy dealings and affairs with the underworld in the city. What can one found in the city are numerous sort of vices that you can imagine like corruption, murder, etc. He gets pulled into a net of crimes and gangs and thus unable to come out.
The good part of the game is that you can undergo different experiences while playing it such as being a first person shooter, a third person shooter, and you can ride your car and what not. Those who have played a few of the versions of Grand Theft Auto may know precisely what I am talking about.
In fact the gaming experience that can be attained by any player of Grand Theft Auto 4 is the “open-world” game play which permits the players an enormous amount of hold over the playing experience. With your friends around the globe, you will all certainly enjoy the game for its mode has about fifteen game types and is available online with a multiple player.

There are many games available online these days, but few make it to the mantle of being truly addictive. The sensation of raw adrenaline rushing through your body when you are just about to make it to the next level is the hallmark of a prototype of an addictive game. Addictive games are the reason why dinner goes cold, girlfriends leave and kids get bad grades at school. It is always the thrill of that one more game, one last turn and one final play, which keeps the adrenaline rushing. Though you may end up at your shrink’s place for saying this, but most gamers play for this rush of excitement; the gut gripping, hair splitting sensation that comes when you are playing a game which has you glued to your controls all night. That is what addiction is and that is also what addictive games do to hardcore gamers. According to most gaming fanatics, the virtual world is the only addiction worth having; all else is pure noise.
One of the most addictive games known to the gaming world is the Half-Life 2. It is a science-fiction that outdoes the legacy of the first game. It has effectual storytelling, fearsome enemy smarts, and a huge variety of true-to- life environments. Another feature which makes the game an all time favorite is the innumerable downloadable modifications that the makers have come up with. This game is any gamers’ trip, starting with the firing of the first shot.
Another undisputed addictive game is the Neverwinter Nights. The myriad of features and upgrades which have been fitted into this game, since its conception, makes it BioWare’s most addictive game, ever. In this game there is always new equipment to win and novel challenges to beat all along the way. Not only that, the game also has myriads of highly-rated adventures, which can be downloaded for free. This game is a bottomless abyss of excitement for all gamers.
The last and a personal favorite is the Grand theft Auto, San Andreas. This game takes the booty when it comes to addictive games. The thrill of taking territory from hostile gangs in Los Santos, hitting the casino tables of Las Venturas, gives you a high like no other. Even after you are done playing every mission and you think you have seen the story to its conclusion, there is still more to do. There are Hummers to steal, cars, trucks, motorcycles, airplanes, and helicopters to run for a theft. You even get to command your own tank! Now if that is not pure adrenaline through your veins, then what is?

I have had the opportunity to play many different video games. The violence in some is just incredible, and in many ways very scary and worrisome. For the most part, I have grouped video games into two categories for myself. One is Fantasy and the other is reality. Reality games are games that have been created from an event such as a war that actually took place or a certain type of group such as the police, or maybe simply playing as a gang member. Let’s not forget the road racing games and sports, which are a few of the games we can classify as non-violent.
The second types of games are fantasy games, which are best described as science fiction Themes. They can be space games, or they can be a witches and wizards type of games, which is where World of Warcraft would fall into.
Both games, if played enough with enough focus and with enough intensity can make you believe that you are actually in the game or part of it, the actions you make the game make are actions you are really doing. This is the scary part because I believe a reality game can make someone mix the game with what is going on right in front of their face. A fantasy game, sure you can believe you’re in it, but it’s harder to believe that when your walking around in the park that the game is in front of your face.
Case in Point: a good example of a reality game is Grand Theft Auto, which is a very controversial game. I’ll admit it, I’ve played it, and I’ve had fun, but it really concerns me what the meaning is behind the game and how real it truly is. I work in Law Enforcement now and for anyone who has played that game they know that the police are often killed. I can’t play that game anymore because the reality of that fact is too real for me.
If I had to choose between the two types of video games reality or Fantasy I would much rather watch someone, or more specific a younger person play a fantasy game than a reality game because sure, it probably still has violence, but it still is a problem solving game, which are the ones I like to play, and it does not connect reality to the actions you are playing.
There have been a number of violent crimes that have been at least attempted to be connected to the perpetrator playing some sort of violent game. Most of the games I have heard about involved in these types of cases would fall into the reality type of games. I can’t say I have ever heard someone in court say “I killed someone because I played World of Warcraft”
It’s a problem that honestly is not going to go away because violence is an unfortunate part of human nature. Violent games sell, so as long as people are willing to buy them, people will be willing to make them, and as technology keeps getting better than the reality of games and the violence included in them will keep getting more real.
The only solution is to monitor the people who play them such as children. If something just isn’t right about how they are acting, maybe its time for a game adjustment. World of Warcraft is great so if you have to choose between games, I would suggest to stay in the Fantasy types or non-violent games all together.

Well done to Rockstar Games with their latest installment in the Grand Theft Auto series: Grand Theft Auto IV. The game play and high level of realism is far greater than any of its earlier editions. Liberty City is now the most realistic environment I have ever seen created in a game.
In Grand Theft Auto IV, or GTA4 for short, you return as eastern European Niko Bellic, the illegal immigrant who enters Liberty City on a small boat that eventually takes him to his gambling addict, high debt, cousin, Roman. This is where you commence your first of many missions.
If you’ve played any of the earlier Grand Theft Auto games, then you will be familiar with the mission type game play that sees you spending time performing small jobs like: stealing cars, shooting gangsters, earning money and respect, or just bringing havoc to the streets of Liberty City while escaping the cops; which I like the best!
Ever since the first edition of Grand Theft Auto, there has been a number of cheats and codes available to help you with getting further through-out the game. This is no different with GTA4 Cheats. In fact, in this edition, apart from codes or cheats you would expect to see; like getting better weapons; or becoming invincible etc., Imagine… while walking the streets of Liberty City, you decide to make it rain, or you become sick of seeing large amounts of traffic on the freeways, so you decide to tame it down just a little – or a lot! It is the attention to detail and the ability to control the varying conditions that make the game as incredible as it is. It is features such as this that has helped with the long term success of the series.
THE Cheats
Now back to GTA4 cheats… after all, this is what this article is all about. In the older versions of this series, you had to perform a series of button combinations to enable cheats in the game. However, GTA San Andreas introduced a new way to activate cheats; which was to utilize an in-game object, such as Niko’s cell phone to enter a series of numbers as if he was making a call.
As in GTA San Andreas, for you to activate any cheats, you need to get a cell phone first. To get the phone, you will have to complete a few missions first. But don’t be too concerned, getting through them is easily done.
When you have the cell phone, you simply activate a cheat by dialling a series of numbers related to the cheat. For example, the cheats below can be used by entering the numbers beside them. However, before you start dialling away, take note that using the GTA4 cheats here can disable some achievements in your game. So if you use any cheat here, make sure you don’t save your progress.

In the summer of 2008 the annual E3 games show was held. This show turned out to be one of the least interesting in years. No new consoles were announced nor were any major new games announced from any of the well known franchises.
In particular Nintendo’s presentation lacked anything to make gamers excited. Their best effort came with Wii Music, which has since been released with poor sales and unfavourable reviews. The only item that really caused excitement was the brief but fairly shocking announcement that GTA: Chinatown Wars would be released on the DS.
The announcement really came as a surprise since GTA is best known for its adult content while the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DSi console are known for their family friendly games.
Fans of the series feared that GTA: Chinatown Wars DS would have its content toned down to fit in better with the type of game typically found on the console. GTA developers Rockstar have stated that they would not be comfortable doing this and that Nintendo never asked them to tone the content down. Toning the content down to anything that would make the game suitable for even a 12+ age rating would leave very little content in GTA: Chinatown Wars.
Themes included in the series include, drugs use and dealing, murder (in some cases just for fun) and prostitution. Many are surprised that Nintendo are allowing such content to be released on their console, but many more games players are happy to finally see some mature content on the portable console.
The new Grand Theft Auto game is sure to gain a high amount of sales after the success of the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of the series. Whether or not GTA: Chinatown Wars DS marks the start of a more open-minded view from Nintendo on adult games or whether is it is a one off remains to be seen.
