What is the true nature of digital photography? Many people have been asking this question for a long time. In fact, when people ask the question about the true nature of digital photography, they often mean to ask whether it is art or it is science.

Here are some arguments for both sides:

A) Art – many people consider digital photography as an art because it allows for an expression of emotion. They believe that digital photography is a continuation of the art of drawing or painting. You see, digital photography is just like painting in the sense that although it does take accurate pictures of reality, it also allows for some modification through the various digital tools available today.

Even without the editing many people still believe that digital photography is art because of the fact that it does take an artist’s eye to find a great subject of digital photography. The nature of digital photography as an art has something to do with the fact that an artist is able to express emotions and statements through visual subjects.

The supporters of the “artistic nature of digital photography” also argue their case by stating its ability to convey emotional messages through aesthetics. The beauty of each photograph, of course, needs also to be credited to the person taking the pictures. One of the strongest arguments for the artistic nature of digital photography is the fact that the picture is rarely really what is seen with the naked eye. Through the camera and computer, a person can alter the image in order to present what he or she wants to show.

B) Science – some people argue that science is the true nature of digital photography. One argument is that photography, unlike painting, actually comes from something existing and not from a painters mind or emotion. This can be very persuasive since, indeed, a photographer does not actually make photographs. He or she merely takes them.

Another argument regarding the scientific nature of digital photography is the fact that the editing that people do and adjustments that photographers make are based on a series of steps that can be narrowed down scientifically. People who argue for the scientific nature of digital photography may reason that the same series of steps can be taken in order to achieve the same results. There is a certain quality of constancy about digital photography that renders it a science.

But what is the true nature of digital photography? We have read the various arguments supporting science and art. There appears to be no solution to this question, right?

The true nature of digital photography will always remain to be a paradox. This means that though it can be considered as an art, it can also be considered as a science. When is the paradox of the nature of digital photography solved? Well, it is solved when a person takes a digital photograph.

The true nature of digital photography lies in the hands of the person who takes the pictures. The way a person treats the process defines the nature of digital photography for him or her. It is not absolutely art nor is it absolutely science. The true nature of digital photography is a paradox. It might seem to be contradictory, but it is somehow true.

Have you heard of, “There is more than meets the eye?”

We use our eyes to view things in our environment. However, through time, man has devised ways on how to preserve the things normally seen and thus treasured, whether these are beautiful or not, and one of which is by using cameras.

The images that are captured by cameras can make our eyes see things that have happened before. Moreover, it enables the heart to wish for beautiful things to happen in the future.

These days, the biggest sellers in the camera market are the so-called digital SLR cameras. These are the modern gadgets that can trigger our creativity and seats of emotion.

Though relatively new, most people choose digital SLRs because it can be easily manipulated. However, having these cameras does not completely guarantee that the every captured image is great and perfect.

Following are some point by point guidelines that should be considered to maximize the expense of your digital cameras:

1. Simplicity

Zoom in to capture the part you want to emphasize. Thus, irrelevant objects or areas can be taken away or just allow them to soften.

2. Rule of thirds

When capturing a moving object, it is advisable to capture them moving into the imaginary tic-tac-toe frame from one of the two sides.

3. Shapes and lines

Capture a straight line at an angle by moving five to ten feet away to the side to capture at an angle.

4. Vantage point

To add significance or emphasis to an object, take a picture at a lower vantage point. Increasing the height away from the object can reduce its significance.

5. Balance

Pick out the dominant objects and arrange them so that they complement each other. However, unbalanced or asymmetrical objects are often more visually stimulating than balanced objects.

6. Framing

You can use the frames of your windows to capture an outdoor scene. You can also use doors and walls of a building to capture a person a walking person.

7. Indoor photographs

You can use natural lighting when you are taking candid shots so that the subjects will not be bothered by the flash coming out of the camera.

8. Camera adjustments

The aperture allows light to enter. You must learn how to adjust this properly and appropriately so that images will not appear as either very bright or very dim.

Lowering the shutter speed allows the image to be more exposed to light. You must learn the proper length of exposure so that images will not appear as blurry.

9. ISO speeds

Digital cameras have ISO speeds ranging from 100 to 800. The higher the ISO, the higher the camera’s sensitivity to light’s exposure. Be sure to master using this element along with the camera’s aperture and shutter speeds.

10. Lens/Filters

There are digital cameras that allow additional lenses to be attached to the main lens, or the lenses can be completely interchangeable.

Lenses can be categorized as follows:

a. macro lens – allows you to get closer to objects like insects and flowers

b. wide-angle lens – used for capturing landmarks, and large and wide sceneries

c. telephoto lens – allows longer zooms that let you get close to objects that are rather unsafe

Filters, on the other hand are used to:

a. soften the effect of the image
b. provide blurring on the edges for portraits that have sensitive moods
c. add light flares for the image to be more dramatic
d. to reduce glare so that pictures appear more saturated, crisp, and vivid.

However, if you still want to improve on the images that you have taken, the following list of software can allow touch-ups:

• Adobe Photoshop
• Apple’s iPhoto
• Corel Paint Shop Pro
• Google Picasa
• LView

Once you have understood and mastered the important points on digital photography and capturing pictures, you will soon realize that the keys in getting great pictures are: “Even a simple aim and shoot camera” and “Creative ME.”

Have you heard the latest info about Game Trade Central? Some people are saying Game Trade Central is a scam. This is complete and udder garbage. There is no Game Trade Central Scam. As a matter of fact, I can prove it. I love Game Trade Central and I think it is my responsibility to stand up for them since no one else is standing up enough for them. But as the saying goes, “people would prefer to see a train wreck as opposed to seeing a train be boarded.”

I love Game Trade Central and I was recently informed about the bad blood they have on certain sites such as ripoff report. After further investigation, I found that many of those so-called negative reviews from actual customers are actually just extortion attempts from competing companies who are trying to put Game Trade Central out of business. I think this is completely ridiculous and a lame attempt at that.

What really bothers me is the damage this could be doing to there reputation. I know people online are gullible. Many people just believe whatever they hear especially if it’s negative. Think about it. That’s the way and reason the news is in business. Their primary driver emotion is fear. They want to scare you so you keep coming back for more.

Anyways, if you are not completely familiar with Game Trade Central, you should know that they are a reliable and trust-worthy company who buys used video games and video game consoles. They have an excellent and easy to understand process. You simply follow the instructions and within no time you get your money in the mail or though whatever payment you like. I personally like the paypal option the best because it’s the fastest.

As far as their reputation is concerned, it’s been damaged by unscrupulous sites who are posting negative and false reviews about companies like Game Trade Central and other companies. This is been all over the news. One of the sites these dirty pirates frequent is ripoff report. Many of these competing sites will write a false and negative review of their competitor to trash their name in hopes that consumers will buy from them instead.

How about just practicing good business practices? What’s with the mafia-style extortion online. I even have proof of this. If you go to ripoff report and search for any company, then go to Google and type their name into the search engine. Almost an overwhelming 80% of the time, you will find that if a company is listed in ripoff report, they are also listed on the complaintsboard site.

There are rumors that ripoff report and complaints board are the same company, and therefore, they use each site to bounce negative reviews off of one another.

Do you think it is just a coincidence that so many companies are listed in two of the same sites? Of course it’s not a coincidence. It’s artificial. If a competing company wants to really trash someone’s name, they unscrupulously post negative reviews on multiple sites.

I can personally vouch for Game Trade Central. They are a great company that offers a great service. There is certainly no scam or ripoff with Game Trade Central.

When it comes to branding, a lot of fluffy jargon gets thrown around, there are a lot of do’s and don’t- but it’s not often that we sit down and analyze branding in a real world perspective.

Do your research:

Simply put, branding is crucial because money is important. Money, or any form of exchange occurs mostly when the consumer perceives the good they get in exchange to be of equal or higher value than the purchase price. Branding is the creation of such value, both in terms of tangibles (quality, value) or intangibles (feeling, ambience)- the creation of which helps differentiate one brand from the other. It is the exact reason why a cup of Starbucks is $4 more expensive than your no name coffee brand or why a plain t-shirt at Benetton is pricier than a t-shirt of similar quality at another store. All things being equal, branding is the sole determining factor, which tips consumer perception one way or the other. Incidentally, favorable branding is also one of the hardest things to achieve.

Find your forte:

As mentioned earlier, there are several schools of thought that deal with the different ways to establish a brand. The usual formula goes something to the effect of: Let’s start our product off its functional value (i.e. better quality, lower price, bigger, faster, better, long lasting etc) and then move on to an emotion-centric branding further down its product line. This approach makes sense- consumers view new market entrants with less trust than the established giants- the easiest way to make them believers is by actually giving them a tangible monetary or value added benefit over other brands.

Position yourself accurately:

In the last few years, there has been an increasing move from company centric branding (We are the best mentality) to consumer centric branding (We are the best because you have made us the best, thank you) i.e. dissecting our target audience’s psychographic patterns and formulating a brand that would appeal to their sensibilities. It is also a more human form of branding and resonates louder than traditional corporate branding strategies that, basically, tout their own horns.

Take it personally:

Think of branding as a first interview- your first interview. How would you want the consumer to perceive YOU if they met you for the first time? The answer could be different for many people: some prefer a warm and friendly approach that leaves the user feeling good about themselves and the sale, others would prefer a more aloof stance where they aren’t necessarily best friends with the consumer but pride themselves on superior workmanship and quality.

Another important aspect to keep in mind after self-analysis is your demographic. This becomes of greater importance when one starts to dive into brand identity formation and its mechanics- the demographic often (and rightfully so) dictates the company’s stance towards them, the colors used, the ambience created and the overall holistic brand experience.

Once you have created your brand, follow a few simple steps mentioned below to let others know.

Get a logo design:

Contact a branding agency and get a great logo for your company.

Build a tagline:

Taglines/Punch lines are memorable. Build one that captures the essence of your brand.

Integrate your brand:

Make sure that everything from your logo & corporate identity to your office interiors and your people’s approach is integrated together.

In conclusion, the advantages that a company gets over time from a good branding strategy may not always be immediately apparent – but over a period of time they grow into strong brand building blocks, on which the company can stand on for many years to come.

Talk to the experts that understand the importance of branding in today’s fast paced world. Before long, your company name will be a well-known name and you will be reaping the benefits.

How do you increase the appeal of your website so that visitors don’t immediately click away? Website visitors today want the information they’re seeking and fast! Any webmaster will tell you that once a visitor lands on a site, how long they’ll remain is determined within the first few seconds.

With so many websites online today surfers have nearly unlimited choices as to where they’ll spend time browsing. As a result when building a website it’s critical to take into consideration how you’ll keep visitors on your site.

Now attracting traffic to your website is vital, but our focus here is how to best have your site laid out in order to keep visitors from leaving within the first few seconds.

When building a website here are 4 characteristics you need to focus on to increase visitor satisfaction:

1) Your Initial Page Loads Quickly

Realizing that most site visitors aren’t will to wait very long your focus on the first page should be to keep the amount of information and graphics to a minimum.

The more you place on the first page the larger the file size and the slower it will load.

A brief description of your company and the benefits it offers will suffice along with some effectively utilized graphics that enforce the message you’re trying to convey.

2) Be Concise and to the Point

The information that you do display should not mince words but yet immediately make clear what your intentions are and how they can benefit the visitor.

In as few words as possible you’re trying to entice your visitors to click thru to the next page for more information.

3) Orderly and Easy to Follow Format

Make good use of your words in order to get the desired reaction from your reader. Whether you want them to continue to the next page or perhaps feel a certain emotion make your wording as impactful as possible. If you need assistance in this area you can hire a copywriter.

Formatting your information and any graphics in an orderly and easy to follow fashion will be more appealing to visitors. The use of tables will help maintain the proper positioning of your text and graphics.

4) Avoid Using Misleading Links

Links found throughout your website should clearly indicate the type of content they will lead the visitor to. When visitors click on any link they expect to find information indicated or represented by the text or the graphics they clicked on.

If attention is not paid to this detail the result will be many visitors clicking away never to return.

So now we better understand what characteristics website visitors want from a site. They want a site they get to fast, a layout that’s organized and easy to navigate, and they definitely don’t want to be misled. It’s all about their time and ease, and the accuracy of your message and information.

In order to increase the appeal of your website, you’ll want to be sure these 4 characteristics do exist. Your results will likely be a higher click thru rate from happier visitors.

USB Flash Memory storage devices are a practical and highly portable method of storing and moving data between places. Flash Memory is highly practical for this task as it has no moving parts, supports fairly large storage and if used properly has very little chance of failing in any serious manner.

Recently though the reliability of these devices has come under a lot of scrutiny as the failure rate of what is normally very reliable technology has escalated to previously unseen levels. Data recovery companies around the world are fielding increasing number s of enquiries and have geared their operations to cope. So what is the problem here?

USB memory sticks are dropping in price all the time as with any technology as it ages and gains mass market adoption, and year on year growth in shipment of these devices has a run rate of around 100% meaning by the end of this year unit sales are expected to be in the region of a staggering 300 million.

With the higher number of units in the market place it goes without saying that that the actual physical numbers of failures of portable storage devices will increase, double the units = double the failures. However along side the number of failing units of more concern is the increase in the ratio of failed units that is being seen.

Given the previous reliability of USB storage media why then is there an increase in the ratio of failures? Investigations tend to have a common theme and a common result. In a majority of reported cases the actual flash memory in the device has not failed at all and is in perfect working order.

The failures are normally attributed to poor manufacture quality by mushroom companies in Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and China. These devices often make their way on to the market as unbranded devices, however there are huge problems with fake devices.

These fake devices are intended to appeal to the greed emotion that is prevalent in all but a few consumers , but just because it is cheaper does not mean it is better. The manufacturing process may be cheaper in different world economies but the other factor that is immeasurable by the consumer is the quality of the components.Lower standard components are cheaper but just don’t last the distance in a lot of cases.

The best advice that anyone can give you here is to buy branded devices if the cost is affordable (which it generally is). And also ask your self this question, is the risk of losing all my data really worth risk of saving a relatively small amount of money?
