I saw my oldest brother Angelo today. He brought over a card for our anniversary with best wishes from himself and my mom. It’s his birthday next week. He is going to be 49 (he’s 15 years older than me) and doesn’t look a day past 34!
He still lives with my mom since he is slightly handicapped, which is very hard to tell just by talking to him! I do have three older brothers in all. Two of which left home when I was only four, so I only grew up with Angelo and was lucky to see the others once a year if that.
Angelo was the best brother I could have asked for when I was growing up. He held my hand as we walked to the playground, pushed me on the swings and merry-go-round, and stuck up for me when bullies came around. I’ll never forget the time that I ended up giving him and the rest of my family worms I caught off of one of the playground grounds. I was just recently reminded of that incident when I saw a show called “Eaten Alive” on Animal Planet Tuesday night!
He was the best friend and babysitter I could have ever asked for when I was growing up. I’m sure as time goes on, I just may in turn be the one to return the favor and take care of him in the future. Not all children are lucky enough to have a big brother or sister around to take care of them.
