Author: You can start building your gold reserves from the moment you start playing World of Warcraft, it’s not something that can only be done by more advanced players. Below I will reveal a few golden secrets you can use to get more gold faster.
1. Take up Gathering Professions
It can be very expensive and time consuming to level up professions such as Enchanting, Jewelmaking, Inscriptions and Blacksmithing but it takes a lot of time to level them up. You’ll most likely end up spending thousands in gold to level these professions.
At the other end of the spectrum, professions such as Mining, Skinning and Herbalism are more straightforward. You can find many of the resources you need while you are leveling and you have the option of selling these in the Auction House.
Since the release of Inscriptions with WOTLK (Wrath of the Lich King), Herbalism has gained a lot in popularity. Herbalism’s popularity is partly due to low level herbs such as Peacebloom and Earthroot being able to be sold for between 10 – 30 gold per stack.
By the time I had reached level 10, I already had 90g purely due to Herbalism.
2. Certain items exist in WoW that you can buy from vendors for resale.
You’ll find that some of these items are a bit out of the way for low level players. Another way you can benefit is to buy these items in the Auction House and then choose to resell them using an Alt. One such item is the first aid training book.
You’ll find that in some realms you can easily sell these items for 5 times the purchase price.
3. Take up Cooking as soon as possible.
While this is not exactly a gold farming tip, it’s useful to know. By choosing cooking as a profession you’ll be able to save a heap of money buying food and water and you can easily skill up cooking by collecting meats when you’re questing. Farming and grinding are much easier if you have cooking as your profession.
When you think about gold farming, think about it not only in terms of killing creatures to get gold and new items, think about it from the benefit you can get for your profession. Your profession can make you very rich if you use it in synergy with other aspects of the game.
