If out for an evening leave a light on so that the house looks occupied and do not leave a key under a plant pot or door mat as many burglars will check these places first. If you are away for a period of time ask a neighbour to call in regularly and remove any build up of milk bottles or mail as this is a clear sign to a burglar that someone is away.
