However when it comes to LCDs a low quality Tv turns out more expensive in the long run. Here are some of the problems associated with LCDs of lower quality.
Low contrast is a common problem with cheap LCDs. Low contrast on a television screen is responsible for low color separation. An HDTV screen with low contrast projects undefined images that lack the typical sharpness that it is expected from ah HDTV set.
Sometimes a low quality LCD television screen may show evident tracers. Tracers appear when pixels have a low response rate creating the the ghosting effect. This effect is very noticeable in fast moving scenes degrading the whole experience. Ghosting is easy to identify. Remember the double image that appeared in analog television sets when reception was not good? That double image seemed to follow moving objects on the screen. The same happens but on fast moving scenes on poor quality LCDs although not as prominent.
Stuck pixels are a common problem with LCD televisions. They can appear on good Tv sets when they are very old. However, in a bad product, stuck pixels can appear relatively fast. Some of these pixels may even stay this way forever.
Another problem that is very common are defragmenting images. This may appear in subtle bursts but makes scenes look horrible and ill defined. The image breaks down into pixels losing detail in the process especially around the edges of objects in the screen.
Low color quality is one of those problems that can easily hide itself. A set with low color quality is usually spotted by comparing HDTV sets. Poor color quality can manifest itself as red toned skin color in people inside the screen that cannot be fixed or dull lifeless colors. In addition, the possibility of poor blacks further reduce depth and contrast.
