Author: Go into any video games shop and you’ll likely find dozens of pretty useless accessories for handheld consoles such as the Nintendo DSi. These accessories are often bought as a cheap gift for a child who owns one of the consoles. There is one new accessory however that every DS owner should have; that is the M3 DS Real.
The device is simply an adaptor which lets you connect an SD to the Nintendo DSi or original DS console. This might not sound like much but it has massive potential to turn the games console into an all-round portable multi media centre. The key to the power of the M3 Real is that it makes it possible to run homebrew applications through the DS. This is software that has been written by individuals or small group usually for free distribution over the Internet.
An example of homebrew software is Moonshell. This is almost an essential application as it allows you to organise files on a flash memory card through a DS. More exciting than that however, it can be used for playing digital audio files so your DS is now a digital music and podcast player. You can also view picture files so your DS becomes a portable digital photo album. Along with this you can play video files so your DS is also a digital video player.
With DSOrganize installed on an M3 Real, you can do even more. It includes a web browser so you can view web pages without needing to pay for a browser as you would normally need to. You can also use it as a text editor which means you could write a report on your console for example. It also includes an image editor which can be good fun. The calendar, calculator and contact list features are also very handy.
